Why do MLB umpires...

...save their absolute worst efforts for the post-season?

I mean, a ball hits Swisher and changes directions NINETY degrees, gets passed Molina allowing ARod to score, and not one of 6 umpires sees it?? C'mon. The ball literally went at a 90 degree angle. I'm no physics major, but it seems to me that at least one Newton Law would have to be violated for that to occur naturally.

One of the analysts on TBS, either Ron Darling or John Smoltz, suggested that replay should be used on any play that scores a run. That might not be a bad idea. I'd be in favor of replaying everything but balls and strikes.

To address your point, GinW, you're right about the umpires having bad postseasons. Maybe they're saving the most senior guys for the World Series, but you'd think the crews would be pretty sharp at this point in the season. MLB will have to address this again in the offseason.
