Braves tanking, too?

I knew San Diego was running on vapors, and St. Louis and ChiSox have collapsed, but Atlanta is now 3 games behind Philly and just a game up on SF and 3.5 on Colorado for the Wild Card. 5-9 over last 14 games. Are they going to hang on?

As a Braves fan, I want to say yes. Would I bet money on that...I'm not so sure. Just falling apart. Even Hudson is getting knocked around lately.
They'll pull it together...

Love it that the Braves are tanking. Hate it that the Phillies are in front of them.

As a Mets fan I have to say despite the fact that we self destructed right around All Star time this year, it's really nice to see somebody else completely tank it and hand the division to the Phillies in September.

I'm kind of thinking Lou should have "retired" around the All Star break. We would have had a chance of turning the season around. 7-3 in the last ten, 4 in a row including a sweep of the Cards. Too bad we couldn't duplicate the last month over the season. We're in danger of overtaking Milwaukee for 4th in division - only 15 games under .500!

If you don't have a sense of humor being a Cubs fan, it'll kill ya.

I'm a Braves fan, and losing this series to the Giants was pretty tough to take. First, there was the blown call on the steal attempt that may have cost them Game 1, and then Conrad's defensive meltdown that cost them Game 3. And maybe this was just me, but in Game 4 tonight, I was outraged when Gonzalez didn't initially run on that grounder that Rentiera bobbled. I was thinking both runners would be safe on that play, and couldn't figure it out when they threw out Gonazalez so easily, until they showed the replay, and he didn't even start running until he saw that the ball was bobbled. I mean, how can any player not be hustling down to first any time he makes contact in a one-run playoff game like that? I was sort of amazed that the commentators barely even mentioned it. I found myself thinking I would take 10 Brooks Conrads on my team before one Alex Gonzalez.

Brooks was put in a bad position. The loss of Chipper and Prado doomed Atlanta. Fairwell to Bobby--he will be missed!
