Any list that doesn't include Bubby Brister is an outrage.

There are only two.

Unitas and Montana.
Brady wouldve joined them but he blew vs the Giants.

You have to be the main factor, prolific and a multi-champion.

Elway not the main factor. Marino and Tarkenton didn't win it. Manning and Favre not multi. Starr, Bradshaw and Staubach not prolific and not the main factor. Namath haha.

MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

The reason I became a Raiders fans those many years ago was because of Unitas. I was never a Joe Montana fan (though he was great) because I've never been a '49er fan. Good picks , but I'd have to add Favre.

I don't know if its fair to say a guy has to win multiple. Football, maybe like no other sport, requires a great team effort plus some luck with injuries and such. You can't pick a game that the Colts have lost and chalk it up as Manning's fault. The guy does what no other qb in the league, past or present, does. Brady has been great but had really good defenses and players around him. Steve Young was able to put up better numbers then Montana. Elway didn't win until he had a running game and Marino never had a running game or top tier defense. Aikmen wasn't even the best player on his offense. The game in the 60's and 70's greatly differed what we see now. Tough to make a list like this.

1. Manning- Record books will prove it
2. Montana- Maybe more SB's without injury
3. Favre- Love or hate him gamer.
4. Brady- Have you seen the women hes been with?
5. Elway- Rings put him over Marino

Elway not the main factor?? Did you watch them in the late 80's, early 90's? He was in the Super Bowl 5 times and 3 of those...he was IT. He was all they had. 3 amigos?...please. It was eleven against one. He actually had to snap the ball to himself, block, throw, and run out and catch it.

Montana, on the other hand, had a plethora of offensive weapons. And any time I get the chance to use the word plethora....well, I must be right.

I'm not a Namath fan or a Jets fan, but I put him on my list for a few reasons. First and foremost, he led an AFL team to a Super Bowl title at a time when the AFL was basically considered a minor league division. That was an upset of epic proportion, and still probably the greatest upset in pro football. Second, he guaranteed a win and delivered. I know that kind of stuff happens all the time these days, but back then, it sent shockwaves through pro sports. And lastly, I guess if you want the "main factor" qualification, there was nobody better at being the "main factor" than Namath. I mean c'mon, you don't get the nickname "Broadway" for standing in the shadows. Go back and look the roster for the 1968 Jets. There are only two Hall of Famers - Namath and Don Maynard. Namath was the Jets. I know he won't be on a lot of people's lists, but to say ha-ha at the mention of his name is kind of ignorant.

Sorry. Didn't mean to stick it to Namath. :)

Elway couldn't do it until TD arrived. And TD was the man for the Broncos when they had their Super Bowl 'winning' years. He just doesn't stack up with Montana or Unitas.

Manning still has that little thing at Tennessee hanging over his head for me. The Vols and Manning were supposed to win it all 2-3 times, but couldn't get it done. The year Manning left, Tee Martin --- Tee Martin! --- gets the Vols their national title. He finally got one, but it seems like he has a shot at one every year and comes up empty. That can all change though. He has the numbers and he is thee guy in Indy.

Montana - You can't argue
Elway - I'm a Raiders fan so I saw how great he was at least 2x a year!
Farvre - Incredible #s and look how he dominated the game in the 90s plus he just had his beast season
Manning - 6'3'', lazer rocket arm...
Brady - tuck rule my a$$, he is great

I have to Defend Manning a little bit on his has game at Tennessee, if I remember correct, they were against a Nebraska team that was play for Tom Osborne in his last game as head coach!!! and Manning had a bad knee and had to have it drained the night before that game.
