First off how about them Yankees, we are taking it all the way this year!!!!!
Is it me or is there a double standard in the MLB? A-Rod tests positive in 2003 and gets blasted, Ortiz and Ramirez tests positive and they pretty much get off easily compared to A-Rod. Remember Ramirez has tested positive twice now and uses the same I didn't knowingly take any steroids, BS. Why does this stupid excuse work for Ortiz and Ramirez and nobody else like Bonds, Palmero, and many more athletes that tested positive? Ortiz even had the chief from the Players Union sit with him at his press conference almost in a way to say sorry to Ortiz for leaking his name, while A-Rod had no support from the union at all. I in no way condone steroids, however this double standard seems embarassing to the MLB. One more thing why don't they make it so we all can see the names, because someone obviously is selling the names to the New York Times for probably a good sum of money, isn't that illegal? Might as well let all the players name out to be equal to all, what's everybody's thoughts on these issues.

Excuse me! Don't remember Pay-Rod serving 50 games. Maybe you meant the media has a double standard and not MLB. Then again didn't Pay-Rod deny using and get caught in the lie? And no I'm not a bit bitter about Pay-Rod saying it's not about the money (and the rumor is the M's made him a healthy offer) and then sign a $250M deal with Texas.

He'll get no sympathy from me.

A-Rod never served any suspension he was hurt the first month of this season (hip surgery). He absolutely never was suspended because it happened in 03' and it wasn't even banned till after 03'.

You're right that it didn't make as big of splash as others, but I think everyone was pretty much expecting it. I think everyone was pretty much assuming that it was a matter of when Manny and Papi were found to have doped.
As for A-Rod, he's kind like Sarah Palin of baseball. There is always drama nearby, and people/media like to see the golden boy fail...including Yankee fans.

i think that was the point. unlike a-rod, manny was suspended for 50 games. and a-rod admitted to using roids, yet only after he lied over and over. mlb has nothting to do with it. it's the media, and they do treat people different. guys who lie such as a-rod, clemens and sosa are treated one way. guys who came clean such as pettit are treated another. you might as well make the argument that bonds is being treated better than a-rod by the mlb. neither arguments make sense, and neither are true.

I'm a little too much of a die hard yankee only behind my grandma, but I for one think A-Rod is being treated differently than the other users. And if I was Barry Bonds or Palmero I would be pissed because Manny and Papi got off without the grab the other people had to go through. One thing holds true Jeter will never test positve, but if I am wrong i think i would quit liking baseball altogether because that would be devestating to the sport.
I wonder how much money the guy who leaking this stuff is getting, hopefully it's a lot because he will need it to make bail when his name gets out, because what he is doing is illegal isn't it. I don't know much about law but if a report or document like this is suppose to stay confidential, and someone leaks information on it, aren't they subject to prosecution.

i agree about jeter. i hate the yankees but that guy is all class, and if he tests positive i'll quit watchin baseball! baseball is a mess right now. i think a lot of guys can make a lot of claims on how they are getting treated worse than their fellow players. bonds could make the argument that he's getting treated worse than anyone because he has yet to test positive, yet has basically been banished from baseball. papi in my opinion did everything right. he spoke to the media immidiately after the report was leaked. after a couple days he held a news conference to admit his mistakes. was he lying? maybe. did bond use steroids? likely. but it doesn't change the fact that all these guys got busted, and more than likely most of them, including a-rod were knowingly cheating. a-rod probably is being more scrutinized by the media. it comes with making mearly a billion dollars in baseball and playing for the yankees. fair or not. if he wouldn't have cheated, and wouldn't have signed with the yankees, the only thing we as fans, as well as the media could talk about are his numbers. although it's unlikely they'd be as eye-popping as they are now without the use of steroids. of course, because he did use, that will never be known. die-hard fans such as yourself will always claim the the steroids didn't affect his gaudy numbers. yankee haters will always claim all of his numbers are the result of steroids. guys like me in the middle just wish he wouldn't have cheated because now we'll never know how great he really is. i still love baseball, but will never look at it the same again. all these guys i grew up idolizing were cheating. now, i can't even give the benefit of the doubt to the guys who probably were just taking suppliments, because there is just too much doubt.

I was never a huge baseball fan, but this steroid mess is completely tainting the game and I don't even want to watch at all anymore.
I don't claim to know enough about the situations or how the media treats each player differently, but all of them are disgracing the game.
Football has been slowly becoming the national sport, and I think this last string of scandals by MLB players sealed the fate of baseball.

I'm guessing he's not making as much money as A-Rod, Giambi, Clemmons, Man-Ram, Papi...etc who have received hundreds of millions of dollars as a result of their illegal actions.

I accept your apology.

Guess I could have been absolutely clear that I was referring to Manny's suspension earlier in the year and not trying to imply Pay-Rod was suspended. Besides us Hi-Liners need to stick together. So I forgive you for being a Yankee fan.
