Re: X > Tebow
I think the joke about LeBron James applies for Tebow, but a little differently. If you give LeBron a dollar and ask for change, he'll give you three quarters back. When you ask Tim Tebow for change, he'll give you one quarter back, but then you find out the quarter is made out of gold and it's worth about 25 bucks. It's really something to watch him operate the Denver offense.
GO CATS!

He did it again. 80-yard TD pass in OT for the win. He's gonna have to go done next week though...playing Dane and the Pats on the road.
BTW there are three former MSU players with their teams still alive in the playoffs. Can you name them?

Yep. If NE and Houston both win, then there will be a Bobcat in the SB.ilovethecats wrote:ahh......coaches!TomCat88 wrote:Texans.Cats15 wrote:Who is on the Titans?gocats wrote:Patriots, Titans, niners?

Shows how much I pay attention to the NFL. I think I've watched a few hrs total this season. I thought I'd throw a guess out there.

the real Tebow rears it's ugly head.
Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

agreed. i like the guy...i do. he seems like a great dude. but a qb he is not. i'm sorry. what did he lose....like 5 of his last 6 or something? maybe 4 of his last five? either way....if the donkeys are going to put their stock in him being the qb of the future....they are in for some rough times.CatBlitz wrote:the real Tebow rears it's ugly head.

Re: X > Tebow
Being somebody who has always loathed the Broncos due to the fact that, as a kid, the good games in the country were pre-empted so we, two states away from Colorado, could watch "local coverage" of the Broncos games ... I think this is awesome.ilovethecats wrote:agreed. i like the guy...i do. he seems like a great dude. but a qb he is not. i'm sorry. what did he lose....like 5 of his last 6 or something? maybe 4 of his last five? either way....if the donkeys are going to put their stock in him being the qb of the future....they are in for some rough times.CatBlitz wrote:the real Tebow rears it's ugly head.
The Tebow apologists/zealots will make it almost impossible for Denver to go a different direction at QB for the foreseeable future, so we could really see something special on the field next season. And by "special," I mean, "really bad QB play."
He could prove me wrong ... but I doubt he will.

Now maybe ESPN will go back to talking about something other than Tebow. Funny how divine intervention (3:16) only had a one-game run in the playoffs. Even God has a sense of humor....

Retiring my moniker. It's time to ride off into the sunset. It's been a fun ride. Go Cats.

I guess Haters will be Haters.
A Drew Brees-esqe passer he is not. But, what the guy has that a lot of quarterbacks don't, is the natural ability to somehow motivate his team to win. That right there is a lot of the time way more important of an attribute than putting up 300 yards of passing in a game.
Just sayin'

It appears that there are a lot of QBs out there that can not only "motivate his team to win," but can also substantially contribute to the effort of winning the game as well.
I sincerely hope that Tebow gets every start for Denver for the next 10 years ... but it won't happen, unfortunately.
Of course, in all seriousness, we are talking about pro football here ... it's about as important in the grander scheme of things as American Idol. Whatever makes people happy is fine by me. I just happen to get a small dash of joy (not much, but a little) out of seeing Denver get jammed up for a season or two. If they went out and acquired a top shelf QB, they would probably be really good.

Re: X > Tebow
i simply think he began to get exposed as the season wore on. he lost 4 of his last five games. i'll admit he played amazing against the steelers in their only win over the lasy month and a half. of course that game was sandwiched between a 6-22; 60 yard performance against the chiefs, and his latest 9-26; 136 yard performance against the pats...who statistically have the worst defense in the league. he had 3 td's and 6 picks over that stretch. and the 3 td's came in two games....so three of hos last five games, all losses, he failed to score even a single td.TIrwin24 wrote:I guess Haters will be Haters.

i've been beating this drum for a while. i like the guy. i think he genuinely cares about people, and puts the game of football in perspective. he's humble, kind, giving, etc. if he was a former cat, he'd probably be all of our favorite bobcats of all time. but an nfl qb he is not. i concede that that steelers game that i gave him nearly no chance of winning bought him some time. and maybe he'll improve enough this off season to be a legitimate starter next year. but i agree with bac on this one. they donkeys are in a terrible situation because elway and nearly everyone else knows he's not the answer......but they are going to face serious fan backlash is they even dare suggest going in another direction.

i agree with everything you posted and would add that I genuinely like Tebow as a person and think he's sort of refreshing for the league. I just can't get over the Tebow worshipping done by the national sports media.ilovethecats wrote:i've been beating this drum for a while. i like the guy. i think he genuinely cares about people, and puts the game of football in perspective. he's humble, kind, giving, etc. if he was a former cat, he'd probably be all of our favorite bobcats of all time. but an nfl qb he is not. i concede that that steelers game that i gave him nearly no chance of winning bought him some time. and maybe he'll improve enough this off season to be a legitimate starter next year. but i agree with bac on this one. they donkeys are in a terrible situation because elway and nearly everyone else knows he's not the answer......but they are going to face serious fan backlash is they even dare suggest going in another direction.

Re: X > Tebow
that's my thing too. hell, i hate the broncos yet i found myself tuning in to nearly all their games and even pulling for the guy. i get annoyed when some analysists try to make football brain surgery...so it was nice seeing this guy come in and win games so unconventionally. bet as the season wore on, and defenses adjusted, he was not very good at all save the steelers game. it's not tebow i dislike. it's the people acting like tebow is the next big thing at the position. his numbers were worse than christian ponder in nearly every category.....and many vikings fans are already calling for poner to be done after 9 starts in a rookie season on a terrible team! meanwhile, tebow wins one game in a month and a half...throws for 60 yards one game and 130 another game, and people are still convinced he's a star.CapitalCityCat wrote:i agree with everything you posted and would add that I genuinely like Tebow as a person and think he's sort of refreshing for the league. Re: X > Tebow
Tebow's game isn't about conventional qb numbers. He finds ways to win games. During the 6 game streak, the whole team was playing much better and Tebow was doing enough to win. During the 4 losses at the end, the defense wasn't playing as well, the oline and running backs weren't as effective and Tebow was forced to try to win by throwing the ball, which we all agree isn't his style.
My biggest problem at the end of the year is that Denver seemed determined not to give Tebow easy throws, everything was 10-15 yards down the field and to the outside. The only difference was the OT touchdown to Thomas.
I still think the downfall of Denver this year was losing Brian Dawkins and Von Miller getting hurt. After losing them, the dline couldn't get any pressure and the secondary was never in their proper spots and had trouble communicating.
