Atlanta Braves
I'd just like to congratulate the Braves on yet another world class choke job...this one might just be their best ever. I will always be a Braves fan, win or lose, but man...it's getting harder and harder with every season. How do you blow a 10-1/2 game lead in five weeks!!?? Even the bullpen let them down in September, which had been the strongest part of their team for the first five months. The game tonight was a fitting way to cap their epic collapse. Not that it really matters, because the way they played the final month, they probably would have just been swept out of the first round anyway!!

Re: Atlanta Braves
Plus side is now that the Red Sox have also been eliminated, no one will ever know of the Braves collapse. All ESPN will talk about is the BoSox.
Things that need to happen before next year:
1. Get rid of Derek Lowe. Guy is terrible. Constantly $hits the bed.
2. Get another bat. Actually try to make a move in the offseason instead of just hoping things work out with guys like Gonzalez, McClouth, etc.
3. Get bullpen help. Venters and Kimbrell just wore out and you could see it.
4. Did I mention getting rid of Derek Lowe?
At least I have the Bobcats to look forward to...and the Raiders....

Weird how teams that always choke, always choke. Red Sox, Braves, Vikings and all Seattle teams.
Vikings, probably the greatest of all choke artists, have found a new dimension. First it was Super Bowls (4), then NFC title games (5 straight and counting), now its blowing double-digit halftime leads (3 straight and counting).
The Braves and Red Sox should get their own chapter in book of choke for this years collapses. I thought Boston had erased all its problems with '03 and '06, but they seem determined to not let that happen. Boston was up 9 on Sept. 3, Atlanta up 8.5 on Sept. 6. Neither could play .500 ball the rest of the way.

MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

I'm thinking about developing a new reality TV show called "Biggest Choker". The first season will feature the Braves versus the Bosox. After all, neither one of them will have anything better to do in October.TomCat88 wrote:Weird how teams that always choke, always choke. Red Sox, Braves, Vikings and all Seattle teams.

The Braves were actually 10.5 up on St. Louis on 8/25, and went 11-21 the rest of the way. If they had played even close to .500 over those final 32 games, they would have still won the wild card with a couple of games to spare.
And by the way, it was 2004 and 2007 when the Bosox won the World Series. 2003 was the year they got beat by the Yankees on Aaron Boone's HR off Pedro Martinez.

Oh sure. I suppose next you're going to tell me this isn't 2010.

Re: Atlanta Braves
Greatest night of baseball in a long time. Braves and BoSox choke. Loved every second of it.
