Inner City Soccer?

Post by AlphaGriz1 » Sat Jul 03, 2010 12:15 pm

Why does the USA not have more inner city soccer programs?

This makes so much more sense than having the inner city kids playing football, baseball and basketball. We need to stop all the football, baseball and basketball and replace them with soccer in the inner city.

First of all it has to cost less than equipping a football or baseball team. Just hand them white T-shirts they could "tag" with their own "art" as a cost saving measure.

Second its a safety issue. Everyone knows what happens with injuries in football and soccer seems like a very logical safety measure "for the kids" This cuts down on healthcare costs that people with no money really worry about.

Isnt it about time we have some equality in soccer? I think people are sick of having teams like Germany and the Neatherlands dominate soccer the way they are right now, we need to instigate some "affirmative action" so black athletes can compete with the elite in the sport.

Also with games always ending in 0-0 ties, nobody loses, nobodys feelings get hurt and we all know that means no after game gunplay.

Its only fair and we need to do it, for the kids.

Think of the kids.

I know you are being tongue and cheek here alpha but seriously soccer is a pretty good sport for kids. I am trying to get my own kids to embrace all sports including soccer because I think it's good for them. They are currently playing hockey, they are good skaters and hockey is a good experience but the coaches are a bit snobbish. I always hear them saying stuff like "lets move, this isn't soccer" or "you're not hurt, this isn't soccer". I personally think playing soccer in the off season is very good for hockey players and they should encourage it. The strategy is very similar. In fact the coaches have the players put down their sticks and play soccer on ice, kicking the ball around on skates.

Some "expert" on ESPN Radio said the USA needs to get into the Hispanic population to help "our" soccer grow world-wide. Racist bastards.

I know, those "unathletic" but "hard working" Germans and Neatherlanders are not getting it done at the World Cup.
