I seem to be harder and harder to find. Bought a Bozeman chronicle today and they had no high school sports in it whatsoever
I miss the days when the Billings goes that was easy to get and actually covered Montana high school sports in print. Sorry I’m old-fashioned but even searching online seems to be more difficult than it should be
Thanks Teton for the suggestion. I usually have no problem finding scores, it’s schedules I’m looking for. I travel and when I’m in an area I’d like to look up what games are going on in that area and take in a game.tetoncat wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2025 10:23 pmWww.406mtsports.com. has recaps with score and leading scorers. Both of those spots if you dig into them have schedules of some type. Mtn Sports if you go to scoreboard you can tab to upcoming games just only gives you next few days. 406mtsports there is a link on top for schedules.kwcat wrote: ↑Sun Jan 19, 2025 9:17 amThanks Teton for the suggestion. And when you do find them a lot of individuals that put them in the print forget the etiquette of listing who is playing where typically.
The gazette, the Tribune, the missoulian oh are you still list alphabetical and daily schedules.
Guess the world keeps on changing and I’m not changing with it very well.
A few years back I had a man approached me at the Bobcat football game and asked if I was the individual that wrote the letter to the Gazette in regards to their prep sports coverage.
He argued that their coverage was as good as it is ever been. I challenged him to look at microfiche of 80s and 90s gazettes and get back to me. I never did hear from him again and he avoided eye Contact any time he ended up sitting close to me at a game.
Long time rags have hidden themselves online and refuse to engage the communities in which they once served in these areas. Maybe I am part of a dying breed that has interest in high school athletics from border to border.
I was hoping there was a source that covered these and I was missing where to locate it.
Oh well… end rant!

Little over half way. Top right now are
Helena High has looked really good so far. The only loss was to Gallatin when the Bengals absolutely collapsed in the 4th quarter and were outscored 19-5. They have a chemistry that I haven't seen in 20 years of Bengal basketball. Tough game at Butte tonight though. And with Butte's Hudson Luedtke on the precipice of breaking the all-time Butte High scoring record tonight, it could be a highly charged contest.
You nailed this one. Bozeman also knock off Gallatin. Maybe AA is wide open. Lodge Grass lost to HPRUACAT wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 2:42 pmHelena High has looked really good so far. I knew Tevin Wetzel was out due to illness and thought that may have an impact on the game. Bengals didn't have the same ability to drive inside and started off with a lot of perimeter passing and missed 3-pointers (I think they started 1 for 6). Midway through the 4th, they pressed and forced several turnovers. Battled back and ended up losing by 1. You'd never know it was a close game from the 406 MT Sports headline, because they claim it was a Bulldog routtetoncat wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 9:03 amYou nailed this one. Can someone help me understand the dynamics of Lustre Christian and their roster? NE Montana has a very low population of African or Asian Americans. Class C schools very rarely have any diversity on the team except for native Americans.Wrangler wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 7:40 pmThe class C boys power poll is getting very interesting. It’s starting to resemble the late 1970s, other than the fact that almost everyone up there is now a class C school. Remember the late 70s? Here’s a brief synopsis of what happened over a six year period of time. 1975 State C championship all northeast (Westby vs Antelope). 1976 - Flaxville wins State C. NE teams did not make championship in 1977. In 1978 Plentywood wins B and Outlook wins C. 1979 was crazy. Scobey beat Plentywood for the class B title and Flaxville beat Peerless for the class C title. 1980 - Outlook beat Opheim for the state C title.
In the latest power poll from Montana sports.com, the Scobey boys are ranked #2, Circle is #4, Lustre Christian #5, and Plentywood #6. I’m sure that they are all very good, but Box Elder (with Jilot now on the court) will be tough to beat.
I've heard it's one of the most affordable Christian boarding schools in the nation for international students.Cataholic wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 8:20 pmCan someone help me understand the dynamics of Lustre Christian and their roster?
