I'm shocked at the capital score! Not that West beat them, but 41-7??? Wow! Anybody see the game? What happened to capital?

Capital QB went down with an injury in the 2nd. That said West dominated every aspect of the game.
West QB killed capital with arm and legs.

Very entertaining game last night in Butte for the Bulldogs vs the Hawks. Big plays by both teams. But, the Hawks definitely missed having their starting QB. Our replacement played his heart out and I'm very proud of his effort. But, the Hawks will need a better gameplan moving forward if they want to win while the starter is out.
Bulldogs won 28-19.

Good game in Billings. CMR beat Skyview 34-27. CMR goes to 5-1 and Skyview drops to 2-4. Skyview is a very good team. Don't let their record fool you. CMR is doing what they need to do to win. Helena at 5-1 comes to Great Falls to play CMR. Capital goes to Butte. Should be some good games.

So I watched Helena-GFH Friday night. I was very impressed with Helena. I know GFH is pretty bad, especially with Timmer and Sukut injured, but Helena is pretty polished. Their quarterback can make all the throws. What grade is he? I thought he was better than the Glacier kid. Also, their kicker is definitely scholarship material. If it comes down to kicking, Helena will be tough to beat.

Rearden is a Sr. They play at CMR this week. Should be fun.

So who do you think is currently the favorite to win the state AA title? It seems like it's about as wide open as I can ever remember, with all of the top teams sort of taking turns beating each other. It looks like 7 of the 14 teams have a realistic shot at the title...West, Bozeman, Butte, CMR, Capital, Helena High, and Glacier. The playoffs should be very interesting this year.

I think Skyview will be the number 8 team and they are pretty good.
Captial lost their quarterback again the other night. I think that really hurts them.
Bozeman lost their quareterback and that hurts them.
I have not seen West but what they did to Capital shocked me especially after they were handeled by Bozeman and Butte.
Helena is 5-1 but the combined record of their oponents is 11-25. I thought they would be a contender early and nothing yet makes me believe they wont.
Glacier has a tough defense which will keep them in games. They are not as explosive offensively as I thought they would be.
I like CMR alot but then again my kid plays for them. They lost their quarterback to a separated shoulder against Glacier. The backup quarterback fits better into their offense in my opinion. They have the number 2 and 10 rushers in AA right now and are playing well. As long as they stay healthy I think they are my favorite.
Butte has a super explosive offense but their defense has given up a lot of points. If they keep homefield advantage they will be tough.

Have all of you "liked" the Facebook page, Montana High School Football? Heck, it could be somebody on here that is doing it. But, they have gone through and done some playoff analysis for all of the divisions. Check it out.
As to AA this year: I really do think it's a grab bag based on seeding, team health, and who shows up that particular night. There is a tremendous amount of parity this year. Right this minute, I think it's hard to find anyone playing better then CMR. Butte is a close second but may be more suspect on defense.
Class A: I think Billings Central is the top dog by a fair margin.
Class B: Malta and Manhattan seem to be separating themselves. Malta's total dismantling of my alma mater on Friday night (over Glasgow 52-0) was astounding.
Class C: Not sure but Fairview has thumped most everyone in 8-man. In 6-man, Hot Springs seems tough.

I agree. Between that and the Treasure State Preps page (ESPN Montana just collaborated with them) it is really becoming easier to stay caught up on MT high school athletics.

Just when I thought that CMR had established themselves as the favorite, they lose a heart-breaker to West. So is West the new favorite? They've probably played as well as anyone over the past month or so. The playoffs are really going to interesting this year.

I get to watch film on Wednesday. On the last drive it looked like that CMR had intercepted a pass that would have ended the game. One official called it a catch and another waved it off. Talking to the kids grandma, he claims he caught it. The lighting at Dayliss is horrible. It is tough to see the ball from the stands. CMR dominated for a half and then went nickel coverage for most of the 4th quarter and gave up a ton of yards and the game. My opniion CMR beats Westt 7 out of 10 games. CMR is a team that will do well in cold weather so I like their chances in the playoffs. KNock on wood we have been pretty healthy while a few other teams have gotten beaten up.
I think Butte is tough but still suspect on defense. Cold weather may slow down their passing game. West is tough but they still have to play Skyview and Skyview is pretty scary right now. Capital is down to their number 3 quarterback. Glacier is as hot as anyone right now and is playing great defense. I think it is going to some down to who stays healthy and who gets some breaks during the games. I think 1-8 that anyone can beat anyone this year.
