We discussed the head coaches' salaries on here awhile back and I can't remember the details, but aren't the salaries somewhat controlled by the regents, or is it strictly a decision made by the AD? I was thinking that Kramer stated not too long ago that his total compensation was under $140,000? Anyone know if there is truly this big of a discrepency?

The contract calls for a base salary of $124,200, plus radio and television and football camp revenue,
incentives for attendance and academic success and other benefits. The total package reportedly is nearly $200,000.
10,000 more seats at, what, $10 more per ticket? So he gets a cut of the ticket revenue? Wow.
Signed, confused Griz fan.

Some mid-major coaches get a cut of the fee they garner from playing a big time school. Like %10 of the cut letting Texas A & M work you over. If I were Kramer I'd negotiate something like that...

Won't happen at MSU (or UM).

Yeah, that probably never occurred to him. I'll bet he'd be delighted to hear your input.
If my memory serves me, you have the football department's address and phone number at the ready. I suggest you follow your own advice let them know what you think.

I am pretty sure Wyoming does the same thing for their Basketball and Football coaches as well. The attendance figures can really extend their base salary if they pack the stands.

Not trying to smack here, but Hauck does get paid less per win than Kramer does. For that matter, Hauck gets paid far less as a proportion of gate revenue than Kramer does.

I guess there is incentive. You win, you get people in the stands, you make more money.
Never thought that would be the case, but it all make sense now.
