Northern Colorado, what an asset!

I checked out the box scores from last night games with Northern Colorado and was amazed..........at the attendance.

1,267 showed up in Bozeman for a womens game (good for them) while only 958 attended the mens game in Greeley!

When your men's program can't draw more than that for a home game they should be shown the door......or am I naive? I have never really looked at other schools attendace figures.

Thoughts.

I still bang my head against the wall every time I think about how the Big Sky conference added Northern (never call them UNC) Colorado over the Dakota schools!! What a short sighted, bone head move that was.

But the Denver Market is just dying to go watch Big Sky conference games! I would be interested to find out how many MSU fans were at that game. Can't the presidents of the universities do something about Fullerton?

Yes, I was very impressed with the attendance at last night's women's game. Darn good game too.

And yet we still almost beat you, even with two of our best players not playing (one played maybe half the game). We're building d1 programs and attendance will grow when we start winning. You're an ass Vike-queen.

Maybe thats true, but the more established Dakotas would have done more for our conference currently in strength of schedule in football and basketball than No Co has.

I almost have to agree here. They are doing just fine in their first year in hoops and they do have improvements being done to their facilities. NDSU and SDSU are further along and would be great to sign up but the Big Sky didn't go that way. So we shouldn't really get down on UNC and their fans as they are new to 1-AA (that is a big jump and takes time). I am glad we have UNC (old MSU rivalry) back in our conference and I hope they do start competing well and that they can build their program! I still think there may be hope for a LARGE BIG SKY conference consisting of North/South divisions. I really think that could be the solution to the 'TRAVEL' portion that all the schools complain about. However, NDSU will probably be in the Gateway by then so won't matter.

Anyway, great game last night Bears. Keep fighting and some of those close games will start going your way!

I don't know that anyone is getting down on Northern Colorado(NOT UNC) and their fans as much as being upset with our conference for adding them instead of the Dakotas. It was just a dumb decision on the part of the Big Sky Conference. It is great for Northern Colorado to get more exposure, but we should have added the Dakotas first.

You have almost beat everyone. I saw you guy's against Weber and EWU on TV and I have followed you all year. You are doing remarkably well for considering your coach was given almost nothing to work with, but you just can not seem to get over the hump. Back on point, though, there are big question as to whether Northern Colorado has the community support or the resources to compete at the D-1 level, or the Big Sky level. There is far less doubt about the Dakota schools.

I mean look at the box score the N. Colo. / MSU game only pulled in 938 people last night.

Oops .. sorry not UNC (So as not to anger the Tar Heel fans :) ).

NCU it is!

We just as well have pulled in a directional Montana school ... (I'm piling on, because it's fun, and I agree with everyone that the Dakota schools are 100x the addition that NorCol is).

I agree, I'd like to see a BIG Big Sky Conference.

I also noticed that NAU only pulled in 1,957 for the UM game last night. NAU is no newcomer to the Big Sky and is obviously well established. The 'Jacks were picked to take the Big Sky title (and still well could do just that.) I think it's pretty lame that they are drawing less than 2,000 fans to a home game.

You guys sure are talking a lot of ****** for being school that we were 1 play away from beating you in football last year, when we had about 7 scholarships less then you (in fact, I think we beat you in every statistical categorie in the game) and we and beating you 3 years ago in our first year in 1AA when we had like 50 scholarships. Nice and classy!

You want NDSU and SDSU instead? Fine by me but we have better facilities then SDSU (with the exception of their b-ball arena). They haven't made any football postseason apperances since the 1960's. And do you really want to travel to Fargo ND in November? NDSU doesn't even have their own football stadium, they rent it from the city. Plus they play in a dome!

Alright, I know you're just getting defensive here and try to understand that what you are arguing about being competitive and almost beating MSU has nothing to do with why people are down on the fact that No. Col. was added. It has to do with fan and community support. Something that No. Col. has not shown to have alot of yet and the Dakota schools do. In football, we had SDSU come here in 04, NDSU come here in 05 and you guys came this year again. SDSU and NDSU had good travelling fans that showed me they have great support, No. Col. didn't have that. In addition the home attendance numbers bear out the same thing. So, while I don't blame you for getting defensive, you are getting defensive over the wrong argument here.

No one is talking crap. Northern Colorado isn't on par with the rest of the schools yet in terms of support, facilities, and talent. It shows with attendance numbers and victories.

For example, tally up the number of Big Sky victories in the three major sports (football, and mens and womens basketball) - you have a combined 2 wins in 24 attempts. Yes that is two victories in this conference so far.

Community support? NDSU has, but with SDSU in football doesn't hold much. They out numbered us last season, but the season before that, we out numbered them. In fact in 2005 when we played in Brookings SD, they had barely over a 1,000 people in attendance. I don't remember a game when UNC had less then 2,000 people. We were a 1 win team last year, of course we're not going to have a lot of people going to our games.

2,000 people at a football game? WOW! That must be a HUGE stadium for them to all fit.

Sorry, I just can't help it. This argument is funny to me.
