Montana BB mens players Playing D-1

Post by mslacat » Tue Jan 16, 2007 1:51 pm

I thought I would update you guy's on how a few men's player's from Montana are doing this year for their respective D-1 teams.

Jack McGillis 6-6, soph. Missoula Hellgate
Oregon State
Jack has been getting more and more time off the bench, since OSU played MSU in November right now he is averaging over 18 games 17.2 min, 5.9 points 1.9 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 45.2% FG.

P.J. Owsley, 6-8 Jr. Bozeman Mt.
Hawaii
Like McGillis PJ role has been increasing as the season has progressed and has started a few games. He is averaging over 17 games 20.6 min., 5.3 points 3.6 Rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 41.5% FG

Trevor Morris, 6-4 Soph. Missoula Hellgate
Idaho
Has been playing pretty streaky 16 points on game and 2 the next. He is averaging over 16 games 11.9 min., 5.6 points, 0.3 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 34.85 fg.

Now yes I realise that there are quite a few players playing for Montana State and The Griz, but I am going to figure we all know how they are playing. If not look them up your damn self!

Where would the Bobcats be if Owsley had stayed and McGillis was here (as it's been reported we could have had him but Durham went in another direction)?

Maybe I shouldn't look back-I get too frustrated.

Better yet, Jordan Hasquet attended the Bobcat basketball camp, proceeding both his senior and junior year. I hear Carson wanted Durham to offer Hasquet after the summer camp proceeding his Senior year, Durham was more interested in Kellen Hasquet ( now playing for Carroll), and would not offer Jordan. Jordan was very much interested in MSU as well as UM at that point. Mean while Kennedy did not want to sign Jordan in favor of a couple of other big men, despite Tinkle insistent. It was not until about two weeks before the November signing period that Tinkle convinced Kennedy to sign Hasquet (after Strait committed). Jordan jumped on the offer. The only offer he had. If (and I realized a big if) Cason had convinced Durham to offer Hasquet during the summer we may have had a chance to land him also.

My biggest complaint with Durham (the post 2000 version), Kennedy and Larry K. was that they really seem to not to trust the Montana basketball recruit. I think both Huse and Tinkle seem to reversing that trend, though. Tyler Hurley may argue this point but I think it is true.
