Just a couple things of note:

Shut down the running game, and force Swogger and the receivers to make plays. They obviously showed that is possible in the first round, but Swogger has also played erratically at times and works behind an offensive line that has contributed greatly to ranking dead last in the nation with 43 sacks allowed.

Still, they haven’t faced a top-notch running game this season, and a team with a big offensive line could get a push against the defensive line.

Seems I've heard that theme before... (JMU '04, MSU '05)

Kind of funny an O-line that is dead last in the nation in sacks allowed had two first team all-conference selections.

Obivously, I was giving the Cats more credit with their running game than Dougherty or the Cats own fans. Cats better show up with a running game on Saturday or it could get ugly.

A former Cat coach stated that Furman was the worst team he had ever seen in the Playoffs in 30 years of watching I-AA football.

Why would he say that? I didn't see the game, but was Furman that bad?

I think they were slightly better than McNeese St...

Sounds like a good plan.

Of course, if it was really that easy to run on the Griz D, you would think MSU '06 would have managed to get at least 1 rushing first down -- in the ENTIRE game. After all, MSU was supposed to have the best O-line in the conference and several all-conference backs. You would think they would get more than 53 yards (1.9 yards/carry) against such a weak run defense. Go figure?

Well, you'd think. Giving up 1 first down in an entire half to the best back in the game should do that. However, I have no doubt we'll hear it again.

wasnt it just runs up the middle? if so i would hope that idaho state would shut them down....

UM has a great defense, no question about it. Shutting down Whitlock is pretty good. i think WKU held him to 66, but you guys did a better job of it. The thing you have to keep in mind if you're a UM fan is that figure came in Wash-Griz, which as we all know is one tough place to play, esp. the first visit. I give your fans almost as much credit as UM's defense. I think you'll shut down UMass, too, but wonder if you can score enough points to beat them. It will be like the MSU-UM game where a freak play here or there will win it for whoever. UMass has a great defense, too, and I don't think McNeese or SIU was anywhere near that. So despite your good D, I think the outcome will decided by how well your offense does against there D. YOu scored 20 against a team that gave more than that to seven other teams. Good luck to ya.

Yes. SIU's TOP was 24:32. A lot of that was resetting the chains from Saluki running plays.

Yes. SIU's TOP was 24:32. A lot of that was resetting the chains from Saluki running plays.
