The Dynasty Continues

Post by gtapp » Sun Nov 19, 2006 9:38 am

At the beginning of every year for the last six plus years I have felt that this would be the year the griz would fall. Each one of those years I would say that they lost too much talent to not fall in the BSC standings. They would lose a QB (Miller, Ochs) a couple of DE's a starting RB (Humphrey), two OL to the NFL or some great receivers. I would objectively state that there is NO way they can be as good after losing all of that talent. And every year they are just as good. Even last year when CB had a rough year they won the conference. So I think I have finally realized that they do just "reload" and plug in another player who is just as good. A few weeks ago I thought (Again) that with Swogger gone and the other Seniors that 2007 will finally be the year. I think I actually believe now that the griz will be even better next year.

They better hope they bring more to the table in the playoffs than they did yesterday. We were 1 play away from beating the "dynasty" in their home. I for one don't think the griz are that good. They have a very scrappy defense and a very average, at best, offense. We play the griz 10 times we win at least half of them.

I wouldn't say "you", gtapp is as much a diehard Cat as anybody.

I'm looking forward to seeing if the Griz Offense performs better against teams that don't see film of us almost every week. In conference play, even if you are not getting ready to play the Griz, you still are looking at a lot of film with the Griz in it!

Anyway, The Griz did get over 300 yards of offense yesterday although to many mistakes were made. We'll see how we do against someone we haven't played in a while.

Good post!
I agree, I predicted that they would loose two BSC games this year. I think I actually predicted them behind Idaho State and Montana State. Shows you what I know. They may not kick everyone’s butt but they just win and I don't think they will miss a beat next year without Swogger, Berquist may be even better.

Everyone always seems one play away from beating Montana.

Griz are two or three plays away from blowing that game wide open. Griz shut down the cats offense the last three quarters. And that touchdown shouldnt of even counted if we are going to get technical.

BAck to the point

Griz are going to be better in all phases of the game next year. If we win the title this year, that team next year could be scary.

Lex is back (huge part of our offense!!!)

Cole is gonna be better than Swogger

All the recievers are back....and all our RBs are back as well (except Brady Green)

Defense might take a hit but we will reload and it will be fine.

I would, except for the fact that he has an analytical mind capable of independent thought which is not typical to many of the folks on this board.

He's not a typical knee jerk.

It's like that with every team in the conference, not just the Griz. You are always keeping an eye on the other opponent you have yet to play when you are watching film.

This is all nice but I think the bsc as a whole is going to be the conferance to beat next year. UM MSU and PSU all return Great Depth. SACst and Weber should be in the mix two with those young teams. It could be an interesting sky next year!!

I can't remember if that is in the next release of board software, but we are getting there. When the Basketball season ends hopefully we can make some major updates to the board.

The 'Cats were as close to winning in Washington Grizzly stadium in 2006 as the Grizzlies were to winning in Reno H. Sales in 2005. In 2005, 10 point was a huge deficit for a team with a bad offense. In 2006, 6 points was a huge deficit for a team going against a great defense.

VictorG has a great point. The Griz have had a target on their backs for the past 10 years in every 'Sky conference game. It's nice to play opponents which haven't had the game circled as the biggest game on their schedule since it was announced.

gtapp hit it right on the head. Other teams rebuild. The Griz reload.
