Might be the best team in I-AA right now.

Their only loss is a one point heartbreak to I-A Minnesota. After seeing the score against Cal-Poly it makes me wish the Griz or the Cats could have a shot at them.

I wish they could play in the playoff's. :?

Oh haven't you heard, according to Bison fans MSU and UM are scared to play them.

However, I agree, they are good and it is a shame they won't be able to prove it in the playoffs.

The way they are playing right now, hell yeah I wouldn't want to play them. Fullerton is a fool for not letting them in, along with SDSU. Hell, I would have been willing to lose the autobid status in order to get decent competition for all sports. I think UNC will get there eventually, but NDSU and SDSU are there RIGHT NOW! Bah, humbug.......

The majority of NDSU fans are really getting on my nerves. They have some wierd infatuation with all things Montana. And they obviously don't yet have an understanding of sheduling.

I guarantee UM isn't scared to play them, and am damn sure Kramer wouldn't shy away from playing them.

For some reason they think just because ND is right next to Montana, they deserve some kind of special treatment, and are different from the rest of I-AA football teams.

Hopefully after they get into the Gateway they can fixate on someone else.

Yes, Fullerton is an idiot. NDSU and SDSU would be great additions to the sky. UNC, I think, will end up being a good addition, but that is probably at least 5 years away.

The only thing I don't like about adding 2 teams, instead of one, is it reduces the OOC games we can schedule, unless or until a 12th game is added. Which would be kind fo crazy having 12 games then up to 4 playoff games. The Griz would probably average 14 games a year :D

Why are we whacking on the Griz? The Griz have NEVER backed out of a contract with NDSU. They are reluctant to schedule us on the road, but then again, they don't have to...... Plus, they make a hell of a lot of dough with home games......even if they play Billings West.

As for Montana State........I suspect it was a business decision and the MSU AD decided he did not want the team to have two rough OOC games next year......so when deciding to take one he took TX A&M for the $450,000 payday..........a good business decision. Who can fault him......I sure won't. I hate it that we are not playing the Cats in our house......I hate that this would have been a huge and electric game......but from the Cats perspective it was probably the right call........
Wyo, I like this post of yours on AGS, except for the statement that the Griz are "reluctant" to schedule NDSU on the road. It almost seems as sneaky way to say the Griz are scared to play NDSU on the road.

The fact is, maybe the Griz don't want to have another away game, unless they can still have 7 home games, or 6 and a huge payday. But where "reluctant" statement gets me, is that there are some 120 other teams the Griz also aren't scheduling on the road. And though you aren't one of necessarily one of them, Bison fans act as if NDSU is the only team the Griz should be looking at to schedule. And those some 120 other teams fans aren't hounding the Griz about getting on the schedule, and calling them afraid if they don't get on it, be it home or away.

I use the word reluctant because I have heard as much from NDSU administration. The Griz have asked if we would be interested in traveling to Missoula to play you at home......but will not travel to play the Herd in the Fargodome. I would term that reluctant. I would also suspect that the Griz are reluctant on 2 fronts......first would be the money lost by not having a home game. Second, would be the huge risk of a loss in the Fargodome as it is a hostile place to play. And, I wouldn't fault the Griz on that logic..... NDSU did the very same thing when we were dominating D2....

NDSU's position is that if the Griz really want to play us they need to come to Fargo, so we will probably not meet until we are playoff elegible.

That's the point. The Montana schools are not the ones who get a woody everytime a UM/NDSU or MSU/NDSU game gets brought up.

Good answer wyo. While I don't think the Griz are scared to play anyone, I am a bit disappointed with their scheduling in some way. I know I can't have everything I want, as in extra money for upgrades, and the chance to play good teams.

I personally think, that once NDSU became a I-AA team, the game when they were DII should not count, for the most part, as a game to be considered in future scheduling. The fact is, the Griz were very generous even scheduling NDSU at all then.

But I also understand NDSU not wanting to play at Wash-Griz again, unless they could some how solidify a home and home with a buyout clause that would make it crazy for UM to try to back out of the away game.

Again, I'm pissed the Griz aren't going to SDSU next year. I'm pissed they are scheduling Ft.Lewis (uckfa). SUU is fine. But why not honor the SDSU game, and make the rest of the games home.

NDSU is pretty lucky, as are other GWFC teams. They don't have many conference games, and can go out and get all kinds of OOC games they want. Plus, they can schedule without having to think about playoffs, at least for now.

I will put in my two cents worth here after I took a beating from some posters on another thread that I started here. First of all I never said and don't think either Montana school is afraid to play either NDSU or SDSU. Won't get into the arguement either about whats right or wrong about scheduling be it away or home games. What I really wanted to see was the best playing the best. Of course it would be nice if it was in Fargo, were no different then you guys are in wanting to see our team at home. Sometimes I think the $$$ gets in the way of whats best for teams which is an unfortunate reality. One comment about our location being neighboring states I do think that definetly adds a different flavor to the game which you don't get when you schedule teams from out west or down South. Not that were any better or worse then they are but just a fact that being neighbors would make it that much more interesting at least in my mind.

Ha, I missed this post earlier. And ain't that the truth. I had this thought in the back of my head but could really put words to it. You hit the nail on the head, it is NDSU fans, and their admins from what I understand and see on the boards, who are pushing these games.

As a Bison fan I just want good competition on the schedule. Personally I like to travel and see a great Bison game. It is pretty fun to go to Georgia Southern and thump on the Eagles in thier house. I don't really care who and where we travel to when we play....it just needs to be great competition. AND......there needs to be a return trip unless it is a DI-A game. In the case of playing Montana, if a home and home was agreed too I would hope the NDSU administration would require the first game in Fargo.

But ..... back to the main point......I welcome any solid competition on the schedule....and I don't like patsies.

So, followin that vein of logic, is GSU going to play in Fargo in the coming season(s)? Not being an @ss, just want to know.

I wish we could play NDSU, as we also need good competition (hard to get in the west, as you know), but I also like the fact we can get 6 home games a year. I am truly sorry MSU couldn't make it work out for next season, but as other posters have said, nearly half a mil goes a long way towards funding, and could not be passed up.

GSU will be playing at NDSU next year........since MSU won't be there that may well be the game I fly back to see. Although, the way that SDSU has finished the season may get me to that one next year too.......

Hell, if there was a good fare war I may just get a bunch of airline tickets and see them all!!!! I like that non-stop service from Salt Lake to Fargo......only 2 hrs and I am there!
