Griz LUCKED out. Must have paid off the refs

Post by KillintheGriz » Tue Nov 07, 2006 10:38 am

No smack intended in this post. Basically, Cal Poly lost the game. The Griz didn't win imo. Then it came down to the horrible call on the 4th and 13 catch in the final minute. The receiver clearly was past the first down marker when he caught it. Then on his own volition without any Cal Poly players around, he hooked back about 2 yards behind the line of scrimmage trying to gain more yards. Cal Poly then hit him one yard behind the line of scrimmage--where the correct forward progress should have been called. The ref gave him forward progress at the point of the catch. That was a horrible call. Cal Poly should have won the game.

I also saw at least two pass interference calls on Cal Poly's Barden that weren't called. One was blatant where Barden could only try and catch with one hand as his other hand was held by the Griz defender.

I guess the Cats will have to beat both the Griz and Ref's in two weeks.

Far be it for me to defend the griz but I think the officiating this year has been worse than normal and equally bad for both the home and away teams. I am sure if we watched tape of that game we would see a lot of blown calls on both sides of the ball. That call in the end zone in Bozeman last weekend was by far the worst call I have ever seen in a BSC game. The officials are not allowed to drink the night before a game. Maybe we should change that rule. It could not hurt.

It is very hard for me to say this but to be fair, I do not believe much in "LUCK" in sports. If someone gets luck their is most likely a reason. The Griz have "gotten lucky" just a little too often for me to write it off as simple luck. You have to make your own luck and that is exactly what the Cats will do in a couple weeks!!

The poor spot would have never happened had this been called a catch..

If I'm not mistaken.

And don't get me started on all the poor calls and poor spots against the Griz. They poor calls go both ways, and only an unbiased eye can spot that. Try as I will, I'm still biased, it can't be helped if you care who wins.

No smack intended in this post, but isn't the title of this thread smack in and of itself? Just sayin'.

And I agree with all the other posters: Bad calls equal out. We only remember those that go against us.

i just don't want to here this sort of thing after the Cat/griz game (i.e. hoping the ref'in is solid and if not, no one complains - either side). just get tired of excuses, you know? not aimed at anyone - really.

Never argue with an idiot. They bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.
