He's too small ... yeah right! The guy is short, but is Barry Sanders built. You cannot arm tackle that guy and if you do and miss he is gone.

I have a buddy that played for the Huskers. He said that Chadron is a feeder school for the huskers and that if Woodhead has any eligibility left he probably will get a shot.

If he transferred from Div II up to Div I, wouldn't he have to sit out a year?

The one man team
Tailback Danny Woodhead capped the first of the third-period scoring drives by dashing 44 yards up the middle. He also had a 19-yard run and a 14-yard pass reception during the 80-yard march
so thats what 77 of the 80 yard drive. This guy is good!!!!

Woodhead, who won the RMAC’s 55-meter dash last winter, now has 1,305 yards rushing, 1,524 all-purpose yards and 18 touchdowns after six games this season. He lead NCAA Division II in all three categories entering the game.
avg 3 tds a game isnt too darn shabby!

One would think that someone either "missed" on recruiting this guy, or that he is simply an outstanding athlete in a terrible conference.
If it's the former, rather than the latter, his size indicates he is very close in "statue" (if you get the inside joke) to Barry Sanders.

More Updates from 10/14 Game....Unbelievable!:
Saturday’s game was the fourth of Woodhead’s career that he has rushed for more than 300 yards. He set the Chadron State single game record earlier this year with 324 yards against Wayne State.
Through the seven games this fall, Woodhead has carried 187 times for 1,606 yards and 20 touchdowns. The junior from North Platte becomes the first RMAC running back to surpass 5,000 yards rushing and is now in 17th place in NCAA Division II with 5,215 yards rushing.
His 414 points on 69 touchdowns is 14th on the Division II list.

Man, that kid is just good. Looks like the DII record for career rushing is 6,958 yards. He keeps up this season and has even a decent year next year and he should shatter that!
Note to AD Fields, should we require scheduling a DII game for the 2007 season, let's leave Chadron off the potential list, I'd rather not see Woodhead running in Bobcat stadium again.

Danny Woodhead: 5-9, 200
Barry Sanders: 5-foot-7 5/8", 203
Sanders didn't play running back in high school until the fourth game of his senior year. Woodhead set the Class A record for career rushing. Sanders was recruited as a kick returner at OSU. Woodhead wasn't recruited by D-IA at all. Sanders backed up Thurman Thomas until his junior year, then broke every single season record on the NCAA books, won the Heisman and turned pro.
Sander ran a 4.37 40, Woodhead is said to have run a 4.43.

They are now 7-0 and ranked 13th in D-II. I don't know this for a fact, but I don't recall them being a regularly ranked team in the past. I'm thinking that Woodhead has to be carrying their whole success right now.

Their QB is good and I think he does enough to keep teams from completely keying on Woodhead. The rest he does himself. His ability to elude tacklers without having to run through or over people is what really sticks out. Very Sanders-esque.
Question?

The debate since woodheads freshmen year has been whether or not he could play d1a football? what does everyone think, could he?
