SDSU played in a quagmire last week.

Recently talked to some relatives; I understand the Rabbit's area had over five inches of rain and the kids were up to their ankles in mud for their game last week. They ought not have the same problems with that nice artificial turf Denny bought for the Fizzles in mazzola so it's probably a good thing the fur ball closed practice this week.

Theories like this work much better if only the D3 team they were playing wasn't on the SAME field! Making excuses just isn't getting it done which is as true for SDSU and Colorado as it is for the Grizzlies. Go Cats and knock the Beebe out of Chadron!

No, no, no. Cliff paid Joe Glenn to leave John Edwards in against the Cats in '02. Despite his 1-19 1st half.

Could have been Edwards, but I thought that was why they named it Hoyt field. I do like Anaconda's version though:lol:

Funny, I would've thought it was a Bobcat Booster who paid Glenn to leave John Edwards in against the Cats!

In all seriousness, I believe Hoyt Field was named such even before they installed the new turf.

SDSU's strength is the run, but they've also got some balance seeing as they averaged about 24 pass attempts a game last season. In their opening game loss last week they threw the ball 36 times. Heck, their run to pass ratio for 2005 was about 60/40. Offensively, based on their media guide, it looks like they have a single running back, 2 wide recievers, 2 tight ends, and an H-Back. And, considering that their 2 quarterbacks ran for just 161 yards last season on less that 7 attempts a game, what kind of OPTION are they running exactly? And remember, in college a quarterback sack counts as a rushing attempt, so their actual rushing attempts per game was actually less than the few attempts it looks like they made. This certainly doesn't sound like an option from Air Force, Rice, or Georgia Southern. Heck, at these schools their quarterbacks are rushing nearly 20 times a game and throwing only around 15 times. SDSU’s offense is not 3-yards and a cloud of dust as you’re implying.

Anyway, why the woody for SDSU? My word, they got beat by a D3 school. A D3 school! D3 schools offer no athletic scholarships whatsoever. Check it and see. I don’t care if SDSU was playing in their stocking feet, there is no way a D1-AA school should ever lose to a D3 team. The same excuse you're giving for SDSU was used by the Grizzlies when they lost in the title game a couple years ago on the bad field in Chattanooga. Now, that's sad. Gimme a break, Nell Carter!

Edwards was the anonymous donor, as far as the 1-19 Edwards problem, I think that was more the pressure that the Cat d-ends were getting on the griz, I still remember Skinner riding on Cordeiro's back all game

Exactly how or what will this help explain? Statistically, Cal Poly looks a whole lot more like the schools I mentioned than SDSU. BTW, did you see that SDSU threw the ball 30 times compared to 21 rushes and their QBs had just four rushing attempts in the game. If your QB is not a threat to run, how is that an option attack? Admit it, SDSU is just plain bad, bad, bad, and should have gotten beat even worse on Saturday. Again, why all the love for SDSU?

As for a D1-aa losing to a D2, yes, it obviously does happen, but for a D1-aa to lose to a D3 is dropping down two classifications and would be comparable to a D1 skipping past D1-aa and losing to a D2. Anyone know the last time that actually happened?

I agree, DII is somewhat understandable, DIII is unacceptable. They can't even give scholarships in DIII. You would be better off losing to NAIA.
