Idaho State @ UNLV

A friend of mine in Las Vegas went the game on Saturday. I told him to keep an eye on ISU's QB. He called me at halftime to tell me that it was 30-3, UNLV.

But.........

He said that at the beginning of the game, ISU came out throwing. He said they threw to whoever and whenever they wanted. ISU totally dominated the beginning of the game. It could have easily been 14-3 ISU. He said that simple miscues helped UNLV explode for a quick 30 points. ISU also began to run the ball and from there, things went down hill and quick.

Not sure what to make of this, but their new QB should be one to be reckoned with.

Not by any means being cocky, but I think the 'cats would kick UNLV's butt. JMHO

I don't understand why they would start running the ball when they were way behind.

I think ISU's quarterback is named Matt Guttierez. He transferred from Michigan before this season. He's a senior, I believe.

Yep, big time offense .... not so big time defense. So intangables/turnovers will probably decide a lot of ISU's games this year.

Shoot-that's always the way with ISU. They usually put it all together for a few games-make everybody think they're for real and then go and beat themselves the rest of the season. They've always been a weird team that way.

Matt Gutierrez is a 1-A drop-down from the University of Michigan. Recruited in 2002 in a class of pretty terrific QBs including Vince Young (Texas)and Marcus Vick (Va. Tech). When I am not cheering on my beloved Bobcats, I am following the Wolverines. I remember all the potential this young man had before injuries took over. The Bengals have a solid QB who could put up some solid numbers. Here's a good article on him:
