Despite the score, I am impressed with the Griz today. They have no running game, but Swogger is very efficient on the short passes. They appear to be much improved over last season on offense (passing, anyway).
That being said, Iowa appears to be pretty conservative on D and is giving up the short passes and not blitzing much at all. If UM can't get a running game going, future opponents will likely bring a lot more heat against the passing game.
It will be interesting to see how UM is able to run the ball against a more reasonable opponent.

The Grizzlies need to play mistake free, they had way too many penalties, and at least two missed INTs that could have been huge.
Running game is hurting, Bradshaw looks better than Coleman so far in his limited time in the backfield. Eric Allen might be the only WR for the Griz who is above average. I'm hopeing to see Marianni next game, wish he would have been put in today.
Swogger looked good, he isn't fast but scrambles well, throw well, and was pretty accurate.
OL looked pretty impressive for most of the game in pass protection, yet even with time there were a lot of plays where no one got open.
Griz TE's looking pretty good and they were utilized pretty well.
Defensively the Griz ran out of steam, but played very well, especially against the run. Colt Anderson is a nice surprise. He's looked very good in practices and did the same in the game. Actually a lot of guys did well on D, LB's especially.
Overall, not a bad game. First game as a Griz for Swogger and he looked like he'd been there before, we just need some WR's other than Allen to go above and beyoned. Maybe the Iowa DBs were just that good, but that isn't exactly what their strenght is supposed to be on D.

You must have watched a different game than I did, Jah. Swogger was not accurate at all, throwing behind the receiver at least four times in the game.
The running game is nonexistant, just like last season.
I think it could be a long year for the Griz. As I predicted, they will lose 4-5 games, this being the first.

They had to open the season against IOWA...NATIONALLY RANKED IOWA...Yes there were a lot of things they could have done better, but you find one score from a nationally ranked I-A v.s. a I-AA lamb that was much better than this one.Catmandoo wrote:You must have watched a different game than I did, Jah. There is not a single team the Griz will play the rest of the season as good as this one...

Let's save this for when the season is over. We'll see where Iowa finishes in their conference and where Colorado finishes (and where the fizzlies wind up in our conferenceTopher wrote:They had to open the season against IOWA...NATIONALLY RANKED IOWA...Yes there were a lot of things they could have done better, but you find one score from a nationally ranked I-A v.s. a I-AA lamb that was much better than this one.Catmandoo wrote:You must have watched a different game than I did, Jah. A fizzlie fan talking logic? Let's guess: a lawyer, journalist or environmentalist? At best they distort the truth but in actuality, they're chronological, pathological liarsTopher wrote:That is the best logic I have heard aaaaall day.Cat Grad wrote:Let's save this for when the season is over. Funny, but Kramer said the same thing about Colorado. So, logically, the Cats aren't as good as Iowa (I agree) and the Griz aren't as good as Colorado (again, I concur).Topher wrote:...There is not a single team the Griz will play the rest of the season as good as this one...
