I know both thread titles refer to Bomar, but in the threads there is discussion of Quinn as well.

Any confirmation from Griz on this. Also if I read the bohmer thread right it sounds like neither of these players is eligible immediately and must apply to the NCAA to play, may face some game suspensions and possibly have to pay back the amounts they did not earn.
I also thought there was something about having to be enrolled when school starts to be eligible for that year. Something we discussed last year about a potential 1-a rumored to be coming to Bozeman.

These guys didn't do squat to not deserve a second chance. The only reason the T.St. coach didn't take them was publicity, had these be lower profile kids, I guarantee he would have taken them. Word on eGriz is that Bomar wanted to come to UM, but was turned away for the same reason, just to high of a profile, too much publicity, etc. JD will be forgotten about, just because he is an OL, but the BSC won't forget about him.
Both MSU and UM have taken drop downs with far worse offences than taking some benefits from boosters.

Seriously? Too high of a profile? I thought you couldn't get any higher than grizzly football! I'm sure if indeed Bomar wanted to come to Missoula, Booby would have taken him. Oh wait.....you don't need him anyway.JahGriz wrote:These guys didn't do squat to not deserve a second chance. If I was thw AD at either school I would not have accepted either of them.gtapp wrote:MSU would probably have done the same with our recent issues. I assault different? Neither UM or MSU have much room to talk, and in my book taking booster money is a minor infraction for the kid, but a major one for the booster and university.

This is just my opinion. I believe in giving a player a second chance, but both of the Oklahoma, players have at least two two strikes against them and the latest was quite well publizised. I am not a big fan of D-1 drop downs. Generally if a player is dropping down they leaving the D-1 programs becuase they have a problem.JahGriz wrote:What about Henderson, I suppose sicky fingers is something different huh.mslacat wrote:If I was thw AD at either school I would not have accepted either of them.gtapp wrote:MSU would probably have done the same with our recent issues. I'd be concerned about ANY kid who drops down because his former team kicked him off for violating TEAM rules but what I don't understand is when a kid is booted for NCAA violations, how can he then just walk right on to a lower-division team and play right away? I'm pretty sure that both Quinn and his former teammate at OU knew they were crossing NCAA lines with their "jobs"; that being the case, it doesn't seem right to me that they can just move down & keep right on playing.
And yes, griz fans, I'd feel the same way & wonder the same things if Quinn had gone to MSU.

Grizzlies: 2-5 when it matters most
