UM golf team honored for academics
The National Golf Coaches Association announced Monday that it has honored the University of Montana golf team for its academic success over the 2005-06 school year.
This year's Big Sky championship team was ranked No. 16 on the NGCA's All-Scholar Team top 25, comprised of Division I, II and III schools. The Grizzlies earned a 3.567 grade point average this past school year.
“This is another award that shows our student-athletes put just as much importance on being students as they do being athletes,” Big Sky Coach of the Year Joanne Steele said. “They continue to succeed as much in the classroom as they do on the golf course, and that's important.”
