With this being the Bobcats off season, we are enjoying watching my nephew compete in D1 baseball. His team has made the super regionals. My niece will soon be playing college softball. In talking with Leon before the Bobcat scrimmage, I mentioned that MSU should have softball. 😎. As long as this household has sports channels, we need no others.

I asked Leon about softball as well -- my daughter wants to go to MSU, but also wants to play college softball. He told me at the time that we'd probably need to add women's soccer first, so it didn't seem like it was something that would happen in time for my 7th grader.

I think it would be awesome to have both women's soccer and softball at MSU, although it seems unlikely that either will be added as long as MSU remains at the FCS level. Soccer seems a bit more feasible weather-wise, the majority of the season is in September and October when the weather is still pretty decent and then the Big Sky Championships are in early November. Softball seems like a weather nightmare in Montana. I just looked at the Griz schedule from this past season and they played their first 26 (!!!) games away from Missoula before having their home opener on March 19th.

Could one wedge an early season make shift field in the indoor practice facility? Yeah, otherwise you end up with absurd schedules to work around the weather.
