OK, Who had the griz losing 3 in a Row?

At this point the griz need to win out just to get in the playoffs.

If they win the next 2 and lose to the Cats, they'd be 7-4 with 0 wins over a good team.

If they win out, they'll still play on Thanksgiving weekend at 8-3.

Unless I misheard, Sam Herder stated he thinks the Griz could get a seed at 8-3.

After the loss to Idaho it wasn't too hard to see how the next two weeks would play out.

I love hearing the gris fans blame the back up QB. Cats were down a Walter Payton Award calibre QB against Weber and racked up three times as many yards as they did. It perfectly shows the difference between the two programs. Brown has started games for them so the coaching staff knew what the talent level was of their QB room but still felt comfortable starting the season with him as a backup. The Cats took one look at what happened when Tommy went down and against NDSU and promptly went out and recruited more talent to bolster the ranks at that position. A decision that is paying massive dividends this year. Gris fans shouldn't blame their back up quarterback, they should blame their coaching staff for not having someone better ready to go.

At 8-3 with a win over the #1 or #2 team on the road? All 3 losses by less than one score?

That might get a team a seed depending on what plays out with everyone else (The Dakotas, Holy Cross, Delaware, Chattanooga..). It would be hard to give the Griz a seed over an 8-3 Idaho team with a win in the head to head at WaGris Stadium & a win over Davis though.

So for that to happen, the BSC would need 5  seeds.

Or if Idaho dropped 2 to Davis & Sac.

Could happen but they need a ton of help.

If so, he is drifting towards Brian M status

To be fair the Sac State game should have been win for them, that terrible call seemed to kill the motivation the team had. I think if they finish 7-4 they still have a good shot to get in, the MVFC and CAA needs to beat itself up a bit more though.

If I were them, I’d be worried they haven’t been able to recruit a single good HS QB since Bobby returned.

If the Cats don’t take care of business the two games heading into the Brawl, then I will be worried about playing UM. If we can get a couple bodies back that to me are crucial players right now, we take care of NAU and Poly, I can see us winning the Brawl. But as we all know, the Brawl is anyone’s game. You can toss records and stats out the window.

Sam didn't colter did, if things break right he said. Recency bias with a win in Bozeman. But they got dominated at the point of attack today. Could they beat us? Of course. But i doubt it. They simply aren't good enough up front.

Not sure of the last time the gris lost 3 in a row, but this might be uncharted territory for bobby (not counting his short tenure at UNLV of course).

I do not think they get a seed, because they aren't beating the Cats this year. The gris will be solidly on the bubble come selection sunday.

I realize that this is really basic, and each game is its own battle, but we more than handled Weber’s DL, while UM’s OL got dominated. Weber was able to run well on UM, so it leads one to think that our OL/DL should more than handle UM’s lines, and we should be able to run on them well. Limit turnovers and ST’s mistakes, and we win. That simple. We’re the better team.

Think about it, when has hauck ever recruited and developed a high school qb, that started from day 1 in that program?

We were saying the same thing last year when a #3 Bobcat team went on the road and, well… we all remember what happened. And we had a championship-caliber offense and an all-time defense last year.

This year, our defense isn’t nearly the same as last. Though the offense is seemingly much better, even more so if Chambers stays healthy and Ifanse returns.

That said - objectively - are the griz that much worse than last year? Are the that much worse than we are? (I’d say yes to the latter question)

The Brawl is always a crapshoot. The Griz are a tough team with a tough D.

With that said, I think we're much faster and much more polished. If we take care of business going into the Brawl, we should be well prepared to beat them in Bozeman.

Regarding the Griz getting in at 7-4...I think they absolutely do. The conference always has a blind spot where UM is concerned. Plus...(and this drives me NUTS), but their stadium helps their case because it brings in more revenue than a 7,000 seat stadium elsewhere.

This is true. And it drives me nuts just the same. Of course, this is if they actually sell out the stadium, which they haven’t done this year.

We still have two games in the meantime but I think everyone here should have more confidence than last year.

We're much better set up for a win this year. Last year was an ugly game from both offenses. The griz offense isn't any better than last year but our offense is much better and more dynamic overall. Our defense will likely give up one big TD play (like last year) but as long as they only give up one and our ST give up no more than one TD we should still be fine as our offense shouldn't have any trouble scoring in the 24+ to win the game.

I have a hard time saying the Griz are any worse than last year. And I'm beginning to agree with Vigo that the Cars are better. That said, like you point out, the Cats were a lot better than the Griz last year & still got curb stomped.

I actually like the matchup of our offense against their defense this year. Our O was suspect last year & they exposed it. Our D is a little suspect this year, but I don't think they have the horses to exploit that.

So the matchup favors the Cats a lot more this year.

Agreed. We're going to run the football on them. We're going to hit them in the deep middle. My question comes on defense with Johnson playing.
