The Top 6 haven’t disappointed

There have been three matchups between Idaho, Montana, Montana State, Sacramento State and Weber State so far. All three were decided by 7 points or less and one went into overtime.
This weekend it’s Idaho at SAC and Montana at Weber. I think they’ll both be nail biters.
SAC 31, Idaho 27
Montana 17, Weber 13
I’m not too sure on SAC, but I think UM matches up well when on defense vs Weber. I don’t think Barron can pass on them and their run game is vanilla.
A win by Idaho gives them the best shot at the BSC title, which is kinda amazing.
The following week SAC is at Weber. Then the last game of the quasi round robin is UM at MSU.

As long as it isn't raining in Ogden like it was in Bozeman, I dont think weber will drop so many passes. The griz can be passed on. I like Weber at home in that one. Perhaps thats just my heart, as I would love very very much to see For Sale signs in Hauck's front yard on Sunday
Idaho at Sac is an interesting game; we'll find out alot about Idaho in that one.

I think Weber is going to come out fired up.
Coach Hill is going to rally the troops and beat the griz 27-17.

I trust Weber's offense against um's defense a little more than um offense against Weber's defense. Weebs 27 - 15
Idaho put together a complete game against the griz but have been suspect for periods against other teams. Sac 31 Idaho 20

Idaho shows it is legit in a knock down drag out battle. Idaho 37 Sac 35

Has anything been said about Johnsons ability to play Saturday? Not that he's the be all end all, but Bobby thinks he is. Could make a big difference. And if Weber's long snapper has improved his aim in practice this week.

I think I'm a SAC fan this weekend as they seem to be the best chance left on UI's schedule to hand them a FCS/BSC loss. SAC still has UCD and Weber who could put a loss on their record. In any case, this game feels like the one of most importance to MSU.
Do we care or does it matter the outcome of WSU-missoula (aside from watching gris fans implode)? I think it is a coin-toss leaning toward WSU with home field advantage. Should be a slobber knocker!

WSU over um
Barron can get the ball out fast when needed, receivers wont have the drops they did with us. WSU D has good secondary, they will shut down the pass game and the front will stop um run attempts.
UI over SAC
UI's QB is completing passes at 71% on the season, he is accurate and can escape the pocket and get to the chains on his feet, they have 2 good receivers and 3 backs that run hard. On defense they are physical and will punch SAC in the mouth and take over the game. the only question is if they run Scatebo 30+ times they can maybe win, but I think they will hold him back some in preparation for WSU.
Note: I really hope that SAC can win, its best for us since I think WSU will beat SAC and we need UI to have a loss.

I come away just being impressed there’s a “big 5” now. A month ago the notion would have been laughed at. Good for Idaho!
I’m still not sold on them but I actually want them to do good. Great for the league.
Think both those games are going to be great and honestly no outcome would surprise me.

Don't count on it. I heard more than one report leading up to the MSU-Weber game that their receiving corps has had trouble holding on to the ball all season. Proved to be true last Saturday, though the wet conditions didn't help.

Not only that, but I don’t think Barron can handle UM’s blitz. It’s a bad combo, then throw in Weber’s vanilla run game. I can only see Weber winning if it’s defense shuts UM’s offense down.

The griz offense has been pretty pathetic for the most part, against decent competition. So there is a very good chance Webers D does shut them down.
How many points can the griz offense realistically score on the road against a great defense? Weber was susceptible to those outside QB runs which the griz might try, but they don't have the speed at QB to do the same damage Mellott did.
I think Weber should win this game.

If SAC's OL and QB can handle the 3-3-5 blitz-o-rama I think WSU's OL and Barron can, they are better at both positions. Barron has improved a bunch since last year, he is getting the ball out quick and making better decisions. I know WSU's receivers have had a few drops this year but generally it hasn't been as bad as it was against us, I think the rain hurt them.
I'm probably biased though, WSU has been my second favorite BSC team since the days of coach Mac.

It's wild, and it's great. Sure, teams get a little beat up through the course of a tougher conference season and might run out of gas by the end of the playoffs, but a good/deep team can make a run with all the tough competition it gets.
From 1996 when Boise St and Idaho left the Big Sky to 2009 when the gris era of dominance effectively ended, there were only a few years where multiple teams from the BSC finished in the top 10 nationally, and never more than two teams. Montana finished in the top 10 seven times, Eastern three, NAU twice, and Weber and MSU once. In the last three real seasons (not including 2020), the BSC has had four top 10 teams twice and five once.

Iron sharpens iron. A better, deeper BSC is a good thing for all teams in the conference! Now we just need the BSC teams to regularly beat their MVFC opponents in the playoffs on a regular basis, when the matchups do happen.

One thing’s for sure: we’re going to find out. Should be good. Tuning in to see how the Weber LS does. That’s worth the price of admission right there.

Here’s to hoping he has a Tommy Sullivan level game, fumble recovery and all. Forget the rest of the game…the kid deserves a good break.

I can tell you already. It's like clockwork. He'll play just fine. Won't even notice him. Griz will lose on the road. Then for the next year we'll hear from griz fans how much better they are than us because we only beat Weber because of their longsnapper and the griz didn't get that same luxury.
