South Dakota State gave Ohio State a run. 70-70 with under two to go before succumbing.

When I was in high school I read an article in Sports Illustrated about Alfredrick "The Great" Hughes on the Loyola Ramblers. He led the NCAA in scoring that year. So it was pretty cool to see them knock off Miami today on a last second three-their first trip back to the tournament since Hughes was on the team in 1985.

I just worry that every body will only post official stuff in the official thread. I would hate to see an official thread derailed

Speaking of official. I saw Eric Curry reffing the Arizona State Syracuse game last night. I don't get it, but somebody must like his work. He's moved right up the 'ol ladder.

This Michigan/Montana game hasn't exactly been the best advertisement for college basketball, as UM struggles to break 50 while Michigan is almost as bad offensively. There have been some really entertaining games today elsewhere, though. The Pac-12...oops.

#1 defense in the Big 10 vs. the #1 defense in the Big Sky. Defense introduces an interesting element into the game.

The Griz have scored 81 points in their last two tournament games. 34 vs Syracuse and 47 vs Michigan. I think they need a new way of doing this tournament. There’s a good 12-15 teams that don’t belong, but they get in because the law of averages says one or maybe two will pull off a miracle win.

There are truly only 12 - 15 that belong. A number 4 seed winning it would be a miracle, let alone a 14.

I'd much rather see the mid/low major conference champions get a shot in the tournament than have them replaced by more crappy Pac-12 at large teams who have an equally large chance (zero) of actually winning the tournament.

I'm all for good defense, but a combination of good defense and bad offense (how many shots in a row did UM miss?) can be tough to watch. I'm not trying to discredit UM here, they had a fantastic year and were the clear top team in the Big Sky all year long.

As brick after brick clanked off the rim in that second half I started to think I was watching a Bobcat game.

No. 1 Virginia with the mighty Ralph Sampson lost to Chaminade way back when in Hawaii. Will this No. 1 Virginia team join them?

It happened!!! A 16 seed finally beat a 1 seed. And the #1 team in the nation at that! Never thought I'd see it happen.

Ranks right up there with Miracle on Ice. I didn’t even know what UMBC stood for until middle of the second half. U Must Be Cinderella.

I drove by the UMBC campus once. So I'm practically an alum!
Bobcat basketball, that's how you don't blow a lead. Let's hope they were watching...and learning.

Reading a story on my news feed that says UMBC has gone 45-23 the last two seasons. "That's a remarkable accomplishment considering UMBC had won seven games the previous season and 20 games in the previous three years combined."
Several coaches were not surprised that they had what it took to beat Virginia...
