We'll in a round-a-bout way. The Portland Timbers need the extra seating. $50 million for 4,000 more seats. Wow that's expensive. Providence park is tightly wedged into downtown Portland and there's no extra room-which makes adding on very expensive, but also makes for a very cool stadium. It's great fun taking in a game there, even when it's mostly empty for the Vikings. Timbers games are an incredible experience. I highly recommend it-even if you don't like soccer.

PSU is going to look bad there but damn if I'll try to go to every Timbers game I can.

I love urban stadiums and think that is an awesome expansion. PSU can forward that link to recruits and sell the opportunity to play in a soccer cathedral!

Seriously tho, this expansion will make it one of the coolest pitches to play on in the world. Small as it still may be compared to major soccer venues.
