San Diego at 1 NDSU:
How did a non-scholly team beat Cal Poly??? NDSU might have their starters on the pine the entire 2nd half. This one shouldn't be close.
My pick: NDSU
Villanova at 8 South Dakota State
Nova has played 2 playoff teams this season, JMU and Richmond, and lost both by a combined 43-7. SDSU plays a tough schedule in the MVFC and has quality wins over NDSU and Youngstown State.
My pick: SDSU
Chattanooga at 5 Sam Houston
This game is fairly intriguing... Sammy finished the year unbeaten and ranked #1 in the STATS poll. However their schedule was soft, their only quality win was a 59-23 thumping of Central Arkansas. Chatty finished 3rd in the Southern conference, with losses coming from The Citadel, Wofford, and a fairly respectable 31-3 loss at Alabama 2 weeks ago. They spanked Weber last week 45-14.
My pick: Sam Houston
New Hampshire at 4 James Madison
Rematch game. JMU ran the the table in the CAA conference, including road wins over Villanova, Richmond, and a 3 point win at UNH. JMU is a solid team, with their only loss at FBS North Carolina.
My pick: JMU
Youngstown State at 3 Jacksonville State
Another interesting matchup... YSU finished 3rd in the MVFC, with road losses to NSDU and SDSU. JSU finished the year with just 1 loss, at FBS LSU. However, the Ohio Valley is a pretty weak conference.
My pick: YSU
Wofford at 6 Citadel
Another rematch game. The Citadel won by 3 at Wofford in October, Wofford led most of the way but gave up 14 points in the 4th quarter. Both these teams are solid, and the winner could make a deep run.
My pick: Wofford
Richmond at 7 North Dakota
Richmond has been up and down this year, but has some quality wins. Admittedly I only saw UND once this year - in Bozeman. I thought they were a decent team, solid D and they run the ball well, but they're nothing too scary. They're undefeated in conference but didn't play EWU or missoula. They do have home wins over Weber and Cal Poly, but both those teams were 1 and done in the playoffs last week.
My pick: Richmond
Central Arkansas at 2 EWU
This is a game that EWU should win at home. UCA played a fairly soft schedule this year. They played 1 playoff team, Sam Houston, and got thumped 59-23 just 2 weeks ago. UCA did come from behind to beat Illinois State last week in the first round.
My pick: EWU
