Did anybody hear about this story? Here's the link.

I heard about this guy's ejection on the radio? What's the deal here? Anybody who knows, a post would be greatly appreciated.

If I remember correctly, he hit someone on that last kickoff return by Cal Poly.

A retaliation (sp?) punch in the arm that he shouldn't have thrown.

The guy hitting back or shoving back always gets caught, I wonder when players will figure that out.

You mean like that Griz player who had the cheap shot on the JMU player in the title game?

My theory is that Hauck's teams play dirty.

Didn't Kramer get suspended for a full game by Fullerton? I guess he must be a dirty coach.

He was suspend for commenting about the officiating in a Big Sky game to the media (Great Falls Tribune), not striking a player. I would say that a physical altercation is MUCH more sever. Nice try though…

Apparently this guy did a little more then "hit or shove" another player after a play. The refs don't give a player the boot for getting a little over enthusiastic... I don't think ANYONE is surprised to find a Griz player taking cheap shots at an opponent.

How can it be a cheap shot when Bierman was struck first? He retaliated, surely out of frustration, a knee jerk reaction.
Now had Bierman punched the kid out of the blue, and when the kid was unprepaired, it would have been a cheap shot.

I guess the Big Sky is just picking on the kid he obviously should be allowed to play.

No, he should have been penalized, just as the CP kid should have. If you retaliate, you will get caught, it is almost a given.
But a cheap shot, I think not.

How many of you who are calling it a cheap shot actually saw the play?

To not call it a cheap shot you would have to see the play and make one hell of an argument why it was not a cheap shot (retaliation is not a good enough answer). I think most rational people would assume that a ref would not kick a player out of a game for a little extra pushing or shoving. Biermann was out of control, and had to be severely reprimanded. He took a cheap shot and now has to sit out half of a game. I do believe that if Biermann gets ejected from another game he is out for rest of the season- I believe that is the Big Sky Policy.

You obviously don't grasp the concept of what a cheap shot is mquast. Roles reversed, and if this was an MSU player, I'd bet you would understand the difference.
It was wrong to retaliate in that way, Bierman will be punished, and will return and never do it again. So don't get your hopes up about the Griz loosing players to make it easier for the kitties to get the job done this year.

Wow - I don't think the Cat\Griz brawl has anything to do with what Quast is saying. 2 questions for you:

1. If it wasn't a blatant cheap shot, then why the suspension?

2. Do you honestly think that AFTER A REVIEW of the incident, the refs and Fullerton are seeing something that didn't happen?

Pissed, not me. I wish he wouldn't have took the swing though. But to say it was a cheap shot is BS, and is only cat fans digging for something to smack the Griz about, plain and simple.
The difference is, I'd say the same thing regardless of what teams were playing, you guy's change your views to suit your needs. Had it been a cat player retaliating, I guarantee it wouldn't have been a cheap shot in your opionions.

Ok - probably just a terminology glitch. I came in late here and maybe you guys are arguing about who threw the 1st punch? Bottom line - maybe it wasn't technically a "cheap shot" whatever that means. But whatever he did was obviously stupid, wreckless, and severe enough to warrant the suspension. Probably similar to that punch in the NC game.
