Griz versus Cal Poly

Ya, who really cares, blah blah blah. I have to admit I'm very intrigued by the Griz this year. Did they really get that offense clicking on all cylinders that quickly or is the NDSU D way off this year? Are they going to start strong and finish poorly due to injuries, fatigue, etc? It seems like all Stitt cares about is the offensive play count, and how getting to the magical 90, 95 plays pretty much guarantees a win because that's the breaking point for the D. NDSU beat UM in TOP by over 1-0 minutes FYI, backing up my statement that the Griz D will be on the field more with the new griz offense. Lastly, yes of course the coach speak is saying that there will be no letdown, etc... but how could there not be some after the most hyped FCS game in history?

I have Cal Poly in this one, 40 to 37.

Side note, Poly opens by traveling to UM, then at Arizona State, then UNI at home, then to Idaho State, then travel to Eastern. Bloodbath.

Isn't Poly in Bozeman on Sept 26th?

So what your saying is the Cal Poly schedule is even tougher than catatac thought. :)

The Griz won't have a let down. Will we win is yet to be deremined. poly is a very good football team and very well coached. I have no doubt they will roll into Missoula ready to play...as they should. Montana is likewise a good football team and seemingly well coached and have a certain confidence I have not seen for awhile. These kids are all in. Tye has seen cal poly a few times now and will have the defense ready to play. It will come down to execution on both sides of the ball. With the playmakers the offense has, a defense that knows this offense and has prepared for it prior to this week, and being at home I don't see Montana losing this one. 2-0 after 2 very difficult games going into the bye week 8)

Griz.......42
poly.......21

Go Griz!

Oops, yes - not sure why I excluded our game, probably because I assumed it was a given that it was the toughest of all!

@ Montana
@ ASU
UNI
@ MSU
ISU
@EWU

Wow. an FBS, four teams ranked in the top ten, and one in the top 20 or damn close to it.

I seriously question NDSU's secondary and pass rush.
Credit where it's due, The offense managed to pull off a win inspite of some red zone issues and inefficient completion percentage. Good effort for a first start for Gustafson.

So....., what makes you think you will have all your weapons?

I thought Griz had a better defense last year.

If Griz were at full strength(they are not), I believe it's a field goal decision again. A couple of injuries could completely derail the momentum built through spring and camp. Since CP can also control the clock I'm not sure how that will turn out getting 90 plays run to expose their defense. If your short handed on d line, its going to be a long day for the linebackers and safeties as those linemen work to the second level. All in all, it's likely to be a 10 point game, 31-21 Cal Poly.

Montana is 6-3 against Cal Poly over the past decade.

Two questions: (1.) Cats' record against Cal Poly over the same period? (2.) Any evidence of Montana showing a performance downturn this year?

Montana - 37

Cal Poly - 24

I think it really got to Ty the beatdown his D got last year and he is determined to make some huge adjustments. With that said, still to early to tell. I say more points are scored by both teams than last week but MT again squeezes out a win, this time by 3.

Losing a starter on each side of the ball(sorry Brady, that's gotta hurt, get well soon) and the man in the middle of the d-line is going to create a potential downturn in performance. Enough said. Really, good Luck this weekend. I'll be here Sunday if you need to talk. Bring friends, we can have a beer and a laugh \:D/.

Wishful thinking over here.

Why would anyone "wish" injury on a student athlete? Really? Has he practiced this week? Just because an announcement hasn't been made yet, doesn't mean it's not going to happen.

Yeah, I wonder what fan base started that rumor? And what fan base said McGhee was going to get hurt? And has the big shot Ivy League attorney that called him the Irish lad and black Jesus?

this is going to be an interesting game to watch, this week while Stitt was going on a narcissistic media tour, the rest of us were left wondering whether um is legitimate or if NDSU had really slipped that far. From my view there we lots of mistakes on both sides, but I guess we can expect that early in the season.

On to Poly, as we all know poly will run it up the middle, and unlike NDSU did if it gains yards they will keep running it up the middle until you stop it then they will go outside. The 2 waekness I saw in the um defense were stopping the dive and containing a running QB. Maybe that was um's gameplan because they knew that NDSU would try and beat them running outside and that their QB would roll and ankle and not be able to run in the second half but I see is as a defensive weakness that Poly can exploit.

As far as um's offense and Poly's defense is concerned, I think that um will struggle with he game if they have 3 turnovers and the QB throws less that 55% completions. Polys offense will eat the clock and give their defense more rest.

That's exactly what NDSU was going to do...and then they scored 7 points in the second half.

Why did NDSU quit running up the middle? they were successful at it in the first half.

Two things happened. UM started putting 8 in the box, and Wentz got injured.
