Looks like Portland State's Viking Pavilion is a Go

Post by SkyRider » Mon Mar 16, 2015 2:46 pm

Portland State University and Oregon Health & Science University plan to renovate an aging arena on the PSU campus into a landmark academic center and 4,000-seat auditorium for athletics, performances and other events.
Viking Pavilion is the latest such venture, with OHSU contributing $7.5 million to the project on the South Park Blocks. PSU has raised $13.5 million in donations for the building. Administrators hope to raise $4 million or $5 million more for additional amenities.

PSU's student fee committee has kicked in $1.5 million. Another $24 million will come from state bonds for the renovation, which is scheduled to start in spring 2016.
Scheduled for completion in December 2017, Viking Pavilion will provide space for lectures, scientific conferences, receptions, commencements and community health fairs. It will seat 4,000 for performing-arts events and concerts, or 3,500 for athletic events. Those capacities could increase, given additional donations.
