Idaho 2015 Schedule

AFTER FURTHER REVIEW, the post regarding the Vandal schedule below, based on one seen on a Vandal site is probably wrong. The schedule is correct, the locations are likely wrong.

The Bobcats are firmly listed on the Vandals 2016 schedule for 9-01-16, time TBD
But first...look at their 2015 schedule. I hope they are getting frequent flyer points; I've never seen a college, or even a NBA basketball team face something like this:

9-12 Los Angeles (vs USC $$$)
9-26 Stateboro, GA
10-03 Jonesboro, AK
10-17 Troy, Alabama
10-24 Monroe, LA
10-31 Las Cruses, NM
11-07 Mobile, AL
11-21 Auburn, AL (more $$$$)
11-28 San Marcos, TX

That's nine travel games, one to USC another to Auburn and six on the other side of the nation. Hard to see how the people in Moscow can stay interested...unless the Vandals are kicking butt. But it's hard to see how Petrino has much of a chance against something like this.

Check your source.

9/3 Ohio
9/13 Wofford
9/26 GSU
10/24 LMU
11/14 App State
11/28 Texas State

Six home games.

Well, maybe they have two websites, because the schedule I looked at was the same one Rick K put up above.

This one actually makes a lot more sense.

They should just drop down to FCS with a schedule like that.

USC and Auburn will absolutely dismantle them.

Actually, I'm betting that they'll go 3-9 for the season.

I heard they might actually be dropping back down to FCS, possibly joining the Big Sky.

This has been beaten to death. But one more time....I don't see how they survive where they are. They might as well be playing teams from Norway and the Moon. They need to get into in Mountain West asap....it's their best chance to survive in the FBS. Being an independent at their level is no-wheres-ville! Playing folks with stars and bars on their flag isn't going to make it! I think we should make it easy for them...open our arms and say, "WELCOME BACK. The BSC is better than when you left and it is even better now that you are back!!!" I'd love to see the Vandals back in the Big Sky.

I thought they let them back in the Sun Belt.

Yes, I believe they are in the Sun Belt again. As for UI rejoining the BSC, I think everyone but UI itself understands that's where they belong, but I don't believe it will ever happen. If you ever go on their message board, the overwhelming majority of their fans would rather drop football completely, versus returning to the BSC/FCS. I don't understand that mentality at all, but there is zero support among their fan base for dropping down.

It's interesting looking at the dynamics and politics of our neighboring state. Given the relative success of the school in Boise, it's not too difficult to understand why they are going to stay the course at the next level within the plus 5 conferences. Idaho State is pulling their program up by the bootstraps, and if anything, both Idaho and ISU build their programs back again. With all our football playing schools at the 1-AA level seeing the inevitable consequences of the Power 5 schools direction and influence and subsequently moving up into plus 5 conferences, one can't help but wonder how long we're going to have tiered scholarship levels in small college football.

Personally, I miss the regional rivalries the plus 5 and the monstrosity our conference has become. At least we get to play EWU out of conference and once in a while we'll get to play ISU and Weber...the only drawback about going up is they aren't allowed partial scholarships.

That is the kind of schedule I think MSU would see if we moved up. That schedule excites me no more or no less than a typical MSU schedule.

3 of the teams on there were FCS just a few years ago, and one more than started its football program in 2009.

USC and Auburn are cool and all, but no different than MSU playing two FBS teams in one year - zero chance.
