I just took a look at the BSC site and all the conference schools new recruits. It's not all over, but it might be heading that way for PSU. Many of you are aware of the problems smothering the sinkhole called the PSU's football program. Included is the school cutting the program loose financially, telling them to make it on their own. One Portland sportswriter likened that to a child telling the goldfish to find a way to make it in the bowl on his own.
At this point the 2015 recruiting class consists of 8 transfers currently enrolled at PSU. The freshman newcomers consists of of 2 quarterbacks, 2 running backs and 1 tight end. That's it, plus the head coach is there on an interim bases. He's a holdover (offensive coordinator) from Nigel Burton's staff. The rest of the staff also remains from last year. Now that they are paying their own bills, they will be forced to scale up the schedule with more FBS opponents resulting in resounding loses. One home game last year listed the total attendance at something like 750. That could be an "overflow" versus whats coming. Or better said, "not coming".
They open 2015 with Washington State. Breathing life back into this program IS a little like rocket science.
It's sad to see what's happened there. They once had a proud D-2 program with guys like Mouse Davis and Pokey Allen producing exciting, fun football. Seems now it's just a matter of time until they are gone.

Re: Portland State recruiting
It just means the 2016 MSU vs Idaho game and it will be a conference game as the drop the Sun Belt and return to the BSC for football.

Re: Portland State recruiting
Head coach awarded Scholarships in house before recruiting started . You can look at that in two viewpoints. A. Keeping peace in an unstable environment (sign of continued program) B . Guilt knowing the program is on it's last legs and limiting the number of broken promises he had to make

Re: Portland State recruiting
You're saying scholies were awarded to current roster non-scholarship players? The exception being the 2 new QB's and RB's, the new tight end and the 8 transfers. That's an interesting move. Then you are absolutely A&B correct.bertram wrote:Head coach awarded Scholarships in house before recruiting started . You can look at that in two viewpoints. A.
