Vernon Adams

Mr. Adams is taking a trip to the University of Oregon this weekend. He just might be gone from the Big Sky. Crazy!

He is set to graduate this spring from EWU. He still has one more year of football eligibility left so he plans on going into a grad program that Oregon offers and EWU does not. That is what I am hearing.PHAT CAT wrote:Mr. Adams is taking a trip to the University of Oregon this weekend. He just might be gone from the Big Sky. Crazy!![]()

That's going to help recruiting for EWU. Very similar to the coaches who tell their underclassmen with a couple of years eligibilty left to go to either the NBA or NFL. Hope he does well at thar level as he was pretty disappointed coming out of high school nobody in the PAC 10 even offered him a walkon.GRIZ1STCATS2ND wrote:EWU has already granted him a transfer release. Hes as good as gone. Wonder if any EWU recruits will bail (not to Oregon of course) but makes you wonder. Likely not as he only had one more season at Eastern anyway. I am interested to see how he will stack up on green home turf.
If a player has graduated and another school offers a graduate program his present school doesn't offer, he may be released from his present school and play at the other school. Getting lost in the discussion is EWU granting him his release.Tri-Cities Cat wrote:For some reason i thought a guy lost one year of eligibility if he transferred "up". Is that not true?
Not if youve graduated. See russell WilsonTri-Cities Cat wrote:For some reason i thought a guy lost one year of eligibility if he transferred "up". Is that not true?

Had to grant him a release to visit I guess so he's visiting this weekend.Cat Grad wrote:If a player has graduated and another school offers a graduate program his present school doesn't offer, he may be released from his present school and play at the other school. Baldwin does a great job with his kids. I remember reading how upset this kid was that none of the schools in his area even looked at him with his outstanding high career. I really hope he does as well as the defensive lineman did for WVU. Let him prove to the rest of the PAC schools how good he is. Even though I can't stand phil knight u, I'll hope this kid does well.LongTimeCatFan wrote:Had to grant him a release to visit I guess so he's visiting this weekend.Cat Grad wrote:If a player has graduated and another school offers a graduate program his present school doesn't offer, he may be released from his present school and play at the other school. RB Taiwan Jones- Leaves after his junior year to the NFL (probably a mistake, but still very impressive, one of the best RB's in the country at the time)Cat Grad wrote:Baldwin does a great job with his kids. What? He's goin there for grad school. No masters in dish washing at EWU. VA will kill it for the Ducks. Brother can play.mslacatfan wrote:RB Taiwan Jones- Leaves after his junior year to the NFL (probably a mistake, but still very impressive, one of the best RB's in the country at the time)Cat Grad wrote:Baldwin does a great job with his kids. WR Kaufmen- Leaves after his junior year to the NFL (HUGE mistake, but I think everyone was surprised he did not get drafted, one of the better WR's the Big Sky has had in a while)
QB Vernon Adams- Leaves after his junior year to Oregan (arguably the best QB in the history of the Big Sky)
That is some insane talent in just a couple year span! Now with that being said, it didn't work out too well for the first two guys, curious to see how this ends up going for Adams.

I don't know how it didn't work out for Taiwan Jones. He is a VERY highly paid special teams player (I believe a 3 year deal worth over 4 mill). He just happened to have a foot injury this year. I think that is a little better than what Mariani signed with the Bears. Losing VA will be a huge blow to the conference, but a great move on his part. Even if he doesn't start this year, I would bet that his stock rises due to his upgrade in prestige. It is a win-win.mslacatfan wrote:RB Taiwan Jones- Leaves after his junior year to the NFL (probably a mistake, but still very impressive, one of the best RB's in the country at the time)Cat Grad wrote:Baldwin does a great job with his kids. No doubt that he's a baller. But he's not even the same league as Mariota. Not even close. I find it a bit of a stretch that he'll be able to slot in behind Mariota and somehow be just as good. I just don't see it.PHAT CAT wrote:What? He's goin there for grad school. No masters in dish washing at EWU. VA will kill it for the Ducks.
