I guess he didn't know that smoking pot is a no-no. I am guessing that the Ducks have a whole group of receivers to step in. I am just glad I am not the DC that has to come up with a plan.

Dumb on his part, definitely, as he knew the rules. Also dumb on the NCAA to have rules in place that punish athletes for smoking pot. Dumb all the way around on this one.

NCAA rule is half season suspension for positive marijuana test-- I guess an artifact from the Reagan era War on Drugs. Marijuana is legal in Oregon for adults 21+, I'm guessing he's not 21 as a RS FR. Nevertheless, it does seem inconsistent at best to have a mandatory suspension rule like this for essentially the same legal infraction as underage drinking. How many 19-20 year old football players drink? There wouldn't be a title game if they were all suspended for drinking.

What's dumb is allowing an accused rapist to play for the basketball team but a positive marijuana test let's you ride the pine. The NCAA is a joke and I can't wait until it folds. If only this had happened in July...

When Ericsson was coaching Idaho be had several kids return to the locker room after their first round playoff win, drink a few Pepsi's and test positive for caffeine. They got beat the next round and yep, the Power 5 is probably going to break away from the NCAA when they get tired of revenue sharing as they tried to when those 60 some schools formed the CFA in the 80s. Probably ought to legalize Mary Jane as it would have caused a lot less headaches as a teacher/coach/administrator if it would have been legal. Wonder if letters to Daines, Tester and Zinke would be well received?
