I sure wish we could have got a shot at the Bison...

would have been fun
I'm glad these two get to play against each other, they have developed a bit of a rivalry.

Ouch. Couldn't have been hurt too much if he ran off the field. Huh

And here I was all impressed with their defensive stands the first half. I'm such a sucker.

I couldn't believe how fast the NDSU defense was to the ball. They were all over the field. The Bizon just seemed to grind it out and when they got their break it was like the flood gates had opened

NDSU is definitely the dominate small college power. They had eight National Championships prior to moving "up" to 1-AA. It appears all moving up did was allow them more scholarships. Eleven National Championships and on the verge of one more? What I appreciate is all my North Dakota relatives are not anywhere as obnoxious as the ones who had to go to missoula.
Wish MSU could get a few of their defensive linemen.

If we had their defensive mentality and coaching the players we have could get to a level similar to that. At least we wouldn't be at the bottom of the country

The next three or four years, I believe, will solidify old coach speak from my being forced to learn about football living and working in the South. North Dakota is rebuilding their football program using the midwest and Southern model. The high school athletic department's library were full of tapes (I know, dating myself) stressing the necessity to have the best athletes playing defense.
If New Hampshire, Oregon and the other playoff teams still standing at the end of the season using offense to build a team this year prove the old coaches wrong, it'll be an oddity.
One thing I would take from last night's game is every kid for NDSU was picture perfect formwise. You could take a sequence of film on each and every kid, break virtually every play down and to a player, they are fundamentally sound assignment, broke down with excellent pad level, form tackling and talking to each other instead of worrying about what the hell new formation they're supposed to be in. They've been taught the fundamentals and I doubt their athletes are as big, strong or as fast as our kids except possibly their defensive line.
One would think high schools ought to take their kids to NDSU camps in the summer. Certain camps are a necessity, especially with the continual tweaking the tackling rules. What a clinic that school puts on and I hope every high school defensive coach buys their instructional tapes.

NDSU plays with confidence, and fundamentals. They're the best, they know they're the best, and they play like it.
I'm so jealous of their defense...now they play fast. We certainly don't.
