Are they unaware that the flag is not to be worn as a garment?

this seems to come up a lot when teams do this. i have been curious about it as well over the years and have asked several friends and family who have served what their thoughts are. most seemed to be of the belief that if it wasn't an actual flag being used as clothing, and instead something like this they thought it was fine.

here's what the american legion has to say.

i love these uniforms and thought it was cool when northwestern did it a couple years ago too.

Thanks for clearing that up. If that's the case, and I have no reason to doubt it, then I like em too. I was just unaware of the subtlety.

that is only one source but i just recalled it because a discussion similar to this came up when northwestern did the same thing. i have no doubt there are probably vets and active members that love stuff like this...and vets and active members that don't care if it's not a real flag; and don't like it.

personally, i think stuff like this is a cool way to support our military and bring attention to them.

Thanks for posting that. I've struggled with this for a long time. I absolutely love this look, but have always struggled with the issue of respect for our flag. This clears my conscience. Good job EWU, very good looking uniforms.

Has anyone heard any rumors if the Cats will be doing something like this again this year? We did something with uniforms last year, which were fantastic, and am hoping we do something again this year.

I am a vet, not a big hero, but I am a vet(19D, 21B). I think these are a notch worse than when teams whose colors are green or red or dark pink or calf scours wear all black. Kind of in the same vein as I would happily tell an individual that claims he is too sensitive, due to his service, to hear the Bobcat Touchdown cannon, to go ****** himself. But, hats off to the people that come up with these ideas. I believe they probably do it with the best intentions and the net is a lot better than some previous generations of vets received.
