Griz a little nervous

Post by golden77 » Sun Oct 12, 2014 3:13 pm

Isn't it kind of funny how in the last two weeks there has been three threads on egriz under griz football talking about MSU football? I also saw that they already started selling their FTC tee shirts. I think a fan base is starting to get a little nervous. Real classy with the tee shirt sales.

You mean like the classy shirts cat fans were wearing 2 years ago? You know the ones. The ones of a girl running from a bear saying something like "no means no?" That being said, I am sure there is a lot of nervousness by griz fans. We seem to have a decent defense, but really haven't faced a dynamic offense yet. Our offense has been anemic and now our quarterback is not 100% either. I think the griz will be in a struggle with every remaining game we play. The defense can only hold out for so long if the offense can't move the chains and keep them off the field.

I never saw those shirts, were they advertised here on BN?

I don't think it's really that odd at all. Unlike BCN, eGriz includes other BSC teams in their primary "Griz and FCS Football" thread. Where else would someone post something about the Cats? We also have a number of threads and posts about other FCS teams, particularly those in the BSC on BCN.

And frankly, I'm not certain fans from either program should feel real confident right now. We have a terrific offense; Griz have a terrific D. I think, to be generous, the jury is still out on our D and their O.

The FTC shirts are being sold to help Cole Lockwood in his battle with cancer. Hell, maybe it stands for F^ck the Cancer.

For once...I agree with you. This is a positive way to utilize the popularity of this rivalry for a good cause.

Kick cancer's a$$ Cole!!!!

Funny coming from a board that has a thread with 1700 views about a coach that hasn't been at UM for four years now.

Oh, and if you knew how to read a little gooder, you'd notice the board is titled "Montana Grizzlies Football and the FCS".

At the moment the #1 & #2 threads on the social experiment site are about the Cats. Hell thanks to the Cats, some fellow is making some coin with t-shirts and donating a portion to charity. Truly a special blend over there who obsess over MSU . . . :D

You know what was hilarious to me is this weekend was the first time I had the misfortune of watching/ listening to the griz with the broadcasters they use. Oh my god I now know why some of there fans believe they are great, there is no other announcers that are even close to that bad about being blowhards for their team. I remember one play Canada got the ball ran up the middle and the o line had been blown 3 yards deep into the backfield and after running into them he bounced it to the outside and did score, I am not knocking the players but the to guys announcing went on for ten minutes on how the line had greatly improved, I guess if getting blown straight back is a improvement. Then on one of the nice runs that Davis had they talked about how double teaming a player was work and it showed the guy get trucked by one guy and they said " well the double team didn't really show up on the replay. It was more than anyone could take unless you had a pair of those pink shaded glasses. I am sure most of you have experienced this but it did open my eyes at least a little why they think they are so good. I do a bit of traveling and if they think everyone has the same opinion of them that they seem to hold to from the past , they are kidding themselves

I realize you are a cat fan. I have the same problem with griz fans on egriz. We are prone to hyperbole. On Canada's run, they were not blown 3 yards into the back field. It was 3rd and 2 or 3 and Canada was hit one yard beyond the line of scrimmage. He hopped to the side and had a free lane and took off. It was not a great blocked play, but it was "man on a man" and enough for a good back to make a good run. I am not if your were listening to the radio or tv guys, but the radio guys are homers and make no apologies for it. It is what it is. The cat radio guys are not as big of homers, but they do to some degree. If we are talking tv guys, then it is apples to apples. Grady Bennett is actually less of homer for the griz as Callahan is for the cats. The announcers are a wash in my opinion. You are biased against the griz, and you hear and watch the games the same way. I have no problem with it. If you were a griz fan, you would see the same thing when watching a cat game.

Ya, Mick and Gurns have always been total Griz homers, big time, but at least they admit it. For Mick is seems a bit strange to me that he's so over the top Griz, especially since he's an EWU alum. Bandwagon I guess but whatever works for you. It's funny how a Griz gain of two yards is a "nice little pickup" but when the opponent gets two yards... "Nothin there!!! Hello Griz D Line!" It's like fingers on a chalkboard for ANYONE listening that isn't a Griz fan. In fact I have a buddy that is a huge Carroll fan (played there) literally didn't used to care who won Cat/Griz. He listened to one Mick/Gurns show, and has hated everything Griz ever since.

All that being said, I've had beers with Gurns a few times and he's actually a pretty cool guy. Fun to party with!

Grady Bennett is pretty matter of fact and knowledgeable, but that play by play guy has his nose up the Griz a$$ es so far that it sounds like he's trying to sell them to somebody!
