Bizon vs. griz

Post by Bobcat Sig » Tue Sep 16, 2014 1:27 pm

Lots of banter on Rockchuck's BookFace posting regarding this weekend's bloodbath in Fargo. A lot of maroon colored glasses being worn and foreseeing a griz victory.

Go Bison.

That is all.

I wouldn't mind them both losing.

I predict that NDSU will beat them worse than they beat Weber State.

That is not really going out on a limb. Weebs kept it close. Don't really seeing us doing that. I think we would need touchdowns on all our red zone opportunities and some turnover help from them and no turnovers of our own to win it.

So how about predicting the score? In the BN prediction contest, I predicted EWU by 49-35 in our game. I'll consider it a moral victory if we come closer to EWU, than UM does against NDSU. About the only sure thing, is that the total number of points will be much, much higher in our game, that it will be in yours.

If UM lets JJ go more spread during that game, then the score will be closer. If they run the Pro Style like they have been doing then NDSU is going to stampede right over the Grizzlies with their OL. I look for UM to get JJ out in space more and running because he could get killed back in the pocket.

That would require some creativity on the coaching level. Not sure you are going to see that.

Just on college. Game day and they all picked NDSU to beat the griz. Said not much of a challenge. Bison by 21.

Congratulations to the griz for a good showing.
In BOBCATNATION.COM the griz losing and not embarrassing the Conference is a win-win.

Yardage wise they did, score wise no.

From what I have heard the score did not represent how much NDSU controlled the game, and No I have not seen the game.

No, no, no. You don't understand. The griz have the #1 defense in the country. Don't believe me. Ask them - they'll tell you all about how they shut down the NDSU attack.

Jesus, how in the hell is the majority of that fan base still so delusional? From what I heard of that game, it wasn't as close as the score showed and the UM lines BOTH got owned but the NDSU lines. I have a feeling that MSU and EWU will be fighting for the title this year, UM playing for second. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

One other point, NDSU didn't need to score a lot of points to beat them, and they knew that. Hence the game plan. Ya, I keep hearing from every Griz fan I know about how stellar their defense is. No way in hell their D would have stopped either MSU or EWU on Saturday. Yes they would have slowed us down more than either team was able to do Saturday, but we will put up points against UM.

I did get a kick out of that. playerrep says the griz would have beaten both the cats and the eagles on Saturday!

The 280 rushing NDSU vs. 68 Montana Liberal Arts College is the stat that sticks out the most.

I was at the game this weekend. Lot's of Griz fans made it and it was a blast. No the score didn't reflect the type of game it really was. The game was never in doubt. 2 plays for the Griz accounted for about half their yardage. Kudo's to them tho they made those plays but the poster that said we didn't need to score a ton of points to know we were going to win had it right. Montana's D stiffened up inside the 20 but also our O coordinator got really stupid in his play calling inside the 20 as well so I chalk it up to a learning experience for him. Both sides the LOS belonged to NDSU. They manhandled the griz. I can see the games you and EWU having with Montana as being tossups with the advantage going to EWU in their game and your game being a coin flip either way as to who wins.

Never being in doubt? The Griz were about to take a 14-12 lead into the half if not for a questionable play-call putting our inexperienced LT on an island against one of NDSU's many stud defenders. However they didn't and NDSU opened up the 2nd half with a strong showing that did pretty much put the game away - the Griz had a chance to get within 1 score at the end of the 3rd quarter but that pick in the end zone pretty much sealed the deal.

NDSU dominated the trenches on both sides of the ball. On the good side the Griz defense did bend but didn't break, NDSU went 1-6 scoring TDs in the redzone that allowed the Griz to stay within range of making it a game. The Bison are one of the most impressive teams I've seen in the FCS - they make very few (if any) mistakes and they tackle better than many pro teams even.

Whats funny in this thread is cat fans joking about the Griz playing NDSU when their team backed out of the game last season and them making comments about defensive statistics, especially after checking that EWU box score.
