This might have already been brought up, but does anyone know with the Idaho Vandals coming back into the Big Sky in all sports except football next year, does anyone know if it is planned to have them return in football down the road? Just wondering.

Idaho managed to get into the Sun Belt for football-so they'll be there indefinitely. The Big Sky would take their football team in a second, but Idaho doesn't want to be FCS-no matter how much they keep losing.

If you polled Idaho alumni, boosters, and fans, and if they were completely honest in their responses, I wonder what percentage of them would say that they regret having moved up to I-A/FBS? Once a school makes that move, it's very difficult to go back the other direction, both logistically and psychologically, so I'm not surprised that they're so opposed to coming back to the BSC for football. But if they had it to do over again, I wonder how many of them would have preferred that they'd never moved up in the first place? Although I doubt that many would ever actually admit to it, even if they really do feel that way.

Has anybody ever dropped back down?

Not to my knowledge, except for Marshall years ago, which was obviously a very unusual situation.

Idaho and um both dropped from the PCC (currently PAC 12) to BSC. The grizz went laterally to the Skyline in 1951 then dropped to BSC. The vandals left in 1959 and joined BSC in 1963. Both became College Division (later Division II) upon joining BSC.

My question related more to the FCS FBS labels, or I guess more of the modern era. Also has anybody that went up to FCS gone back to D2?
