Griz lose Utterback for season

MISSOULA - The University of Montana is minus a linebacker, and possibly several others players, after its 47-14 loss at Oregon.

Loren Utterback of Fort Benton, a sophomore starter on the strong side, suffered a broken bone in his foot late in the Oregon game. He had surgery Monday and will be out 6 to 8 weeks, said his father, Brad Utterback.

At Montana's weekly press conference, head coach Bobby Hauck noted 12 injuries, without giving specifics.

Hauck listed defensive tackle Alan Saenz, defensive end Mike Murphy, corners Quentin Jackson and Tuff Harris and receiver Jon Talmage as probable; safety Colt Anderson, defensive tackle Jesse Carlson and guard Jason Frink as questionable; and corner Chris Clark, running back J.R. Waller and Utterback doubtful; and safety Jake McCarthy, who was hurt on the opening kickoff, as out.

I hope all of the injuries are only minor. I want the Griz to be at full strength when we meet them on 11/19/05. If all is well on the injury list then the only excuse they will have after we kick their butts, is the the poor field conditions.

I hope our kids get them at full strength also because it's how many years of B.S. we all have had to put up with

I agree with that CATGRAD... but you know Babby Hauck will use that as an excuse if they are missing anybody when the Cats hand him a loss at Bozeman.

Yeah, but even more, I hate to see kids get hurt--even if they've made poor choices as to where to play.

Try making it through one thread on this messageboard that's not a Bobby bash session. It sucks and I say that the Griz have had problems with the past with injuries that contributed to them losing to MSU (okay, twice) -- but equally as much MSU's injuries, especially on defense, made a difference in last year's Brawl. Let's hope for an injury free season for both teams from now on.

Nick, please tell me that your location being that of Eugene doesn't mean you're a Duck.......

Yes, I 100% agree that the best thing that can happen for either the Bobcats or Griz is to be free of serious injury. I hate to see that happen to any kid playing!
