Rumor - Craig Bohl is new Wyo FB Coach

Post by HelenaCat95 » Sat Dec 07, 2013 8:46 pm

I don't have a link, but the rumor is Craig Bohl from North Dakota St is new Wyoming Head FB Coach.

I think it's a great hire for Wyoming. But count me as very surprised that this is happening (if the rumor is true).

How does this factor into the rest of NDSU's season?

Just read the same thing. That will certainly shake things up a bit at NDSU.

@BFeldmanCBS Wyoming will announce North Dakota St's Craig Bohl Sunday as its new head coach, per source. He's 40-2 last 3 seasons.

Why would they announce this now? Why not wait until after NDSU's season is done?

Why doesn't that make any sense to you? Makes perfect sense to me. He transformed a division 2 team in less than 10 years to a powerful 1-AA team. He knows how to recruit and get kids to buy in to a program. What else is there? He has a proven track record of success and it may seem like a lateral move but a division 2 head coach to a division 1 head coach 11 years later...c'mon, is there really any question? It's still a step in the right direction. How about in 5 years, if he continues his success as a head coach, he becomes a head coach for a Pac 12 school, would it make sense then?

I agree, that's a head scratcher. I thought he was going to Nebraska.

I always thought he might end up at Nebraska too. That's a steal for Wyoming!

He'll do a great job building that program from the ground up. Less pressure in Laramie!

Those Nebraska fans are like griz fans, if you don't convert on on a couple of third downs they start booing!

I am surprised. I can't see anyone being able to win in Wyoming in today's game. If he can win there then he is truly a great coach!

Wyoming needs Bohl as bad as ever right now, an amazing hire. The rumor (not so much) was that Bohl would only leave ND for a big time program. From Bohl's standpoint it makes sense, Wyo will let him build a program in a weak Mountain West conference. Head Ball Coach Dave C. has wore out his welcome. I hope some good days for Wyo..... =D^ =D^

Kind of makes sense. Nebraska decided to keep Pelini. NDSU has a huge senior class-next season might tougher and his gaudy record could take a hit. So plan B is Wyoming. He does well there and the Nebraska job is his when Pelini inevitably wears out his welcome.

Also a rumor amongst all the chaotic speculation that Wyoming may be looking to move up to the Big 12.

Now that one really makes no sense.

Maybe I'm giving him too much credit but I think he could've grabbed a Big 12 or Big Ten job eventually.

Also I'm pretty sure most people would consider Wyoming a "dead end coaching job."

Because its recruiting time. It actually happens all the time.
So in his eyes getting out on the trail to get recruits away from Utah state is more important than a BCS championship.

Also, I think Bohl will do better than the last 3 Wyo coaches, which unquestionably underperformed, and hopefully the fan base will give him some rope to do what he did at ND.

Unless he deleted something, I don't see the shocking thing about it.

Really happy for Coach, love that man with all my heart... Sad it had to get leaked like this, doubt he wanted it to happen like it is.

I am shocked that Bohl would go to WY, the NDSU QB is basically confirming what CBS is reporting

This.

And Dennis Erickson went 6-6 at Wyoming and left after one year, without notice, for Wazzu, which he left for Miami a week after saying he wasn't leaving. It's a time-honored tradition for coaches.

Looking to fill the retirement account with money. Fargo is much more appealing than Laramie. When you ask one of the UW students where a good restaurant is and they tell you to drive to Ft Collins CO you know you are no where. Recruiting is next to impossible. I don't see him being any more successful than the last couple of coaches.
