When Ash was hired? No, I don't think his name ever came up. The previous coach for UND was a finalist - Dale Lennon. I think that may be who Mussman replaced.

Which made me curious as to what happened to him -- doesn't look like the trajectory at Southern Illinois has been what we might have expected back when he left North Dakota:
