Empty seats in Wa Griz
Lots of vacant seats today midway thru the second quarter. Did they not sell out?

Re: Empty seats in Wa Griz
I believe I saw that the attendance was only 23,000 something, so that would be well short of a sellout. What was our attendance for the SUU game? I don't believe they ever announced it during the game. That had to be our lowest attendance of the season as well, although I thought I heard that it was officially sold out several weeks ago. The end zone certainly had plenty of empty seats...didn't seem to be well attended by the students.Mtcatfan wrote:Lots of vacant seats today midway thru the second quarter. Did they not sell out?

Re: Empty seats in Wa Griz
So we'll end up exceeding the official capacity for every single game this season, and we should go over 21,000 again for Cat-Griz. I don't believe we've ever done that before, even before the new end zone was added. That's pretty impressive. The average for the season should be close to 20,000. What's everyone's guess for Cat-Griz? I believe the record is 21,017, for Homecoming this year. I can't believe that we'll go much over that, because we must be close to maxing out the number of temp seating and SRO that we can sell. I'll predict 21,107.oedipuss wrote:Official attendance was 18,187 Saturday night. 23,609 at Wa-Griz.

We were over capacity last week? Where were they all? There must have been some hellacious lines at the potties. So we'll end up exceeding the official capacity for every single game this season

I believe the official capacity is 17,777, so yes we exceeded that. I think there must have been quite a few season ticket holders that didn't actually go to the game, because there were lots of empty seats, particularly in the end zone. It also looked like the student attendance was much lower than normal. In both those cases, unused season tickets and unused student tickets, they still get counted as part of the official "paid" attendance, which accounts for the disrepancy.Jobu wrote:We were over capacity last week? Not posting this as smack, but watching the Cat vs SUU game on TV it looked like there were a LOT of empty seats there too especially in the 2nd half.
Were there a lot of people who didn't come back in after halftime and just stayed tailgating through most of the 3rd quarter? I know that happens a lot at the Griz games and am curious if it's the same at the Cat games.
As for the game against Weber, there were a lot of empty seats at kickoff and throughout the game. I'm guessing the nasty weather forecast might have stopped some people from traveling from other towns to see the game.
