Should be a great game! Jordan Johnson needs to play much better if the griz are going to win!
Edited by kmax. Autocat, that is uncalled for and doesn't fly here. Don't do that kind of crap again.

Missoulian says Travon Van is out for EWU game. He is averaging 6.3 per carry and has 443 yards, 4 TDs.

Definitely a blow for us, but I think Counts will do okay in his place. He's averaging 5.7 per carry in the limited action he's seen.[cat_bracket] wrote:Missoulian says Travon Van is out for EWU game. He is averaging 6.3 per carry and has 443 yards, 4 TDs.

Counts is at 5.2, according to the BSC website. He's a strong runner. I wonder if they'll use him or Nguyen. Nguyen's style is more like Van, if they decide to go that route.Htowngriz wrote:Definitely a blow for us, but I think Counts will do okay in his place. Except only Nguyen puts the ball on the ground more during a game than the refs do.TomCat88 wrote:Counts is at 5.2, according to the BSC website. He's a strong runner. Didn't Nguyen graduate last year?TomCat88 wrote:Counts is at 5.2, according to the BSC website. He's a strong runner. I wonder if they'll use him or Nguyen. Re: Eagles/griz
There's another Nguyen on the team. Regardless, the hypeapalooza o-line needs to show up for the griz to have any semblance of a running game.grizzh8r wrote:Didn't Nguyen graduate last year?TomCat88 wrote:Counts is at 5.2, according to the BSC website. Re: Eagles/griz
Against Eastern's D they could only half show up and we'll be fine. This is basically the same team that put up 400 yards rushing on them in Cheney last year.Bobcat Sig wrote:There's another Nguyen on the team. Re: Eagles/griz
True, but we also didn't have much of a credible passing threat last year. IIRC, Eastern's D stacked the box pretty frequently and still couldn't do much to stop us. It'll be interesting to see how they deal with the play action once we get the ground game established (assuming we do).Counter Assault wrote:HTown - yeah. But a completely different offense.

Re: Eagles/griz
The game will be a very close game. EW loves to pass and will end up keeping their D on the field a lot. This bodes well for the Griz running game. EW takes a lead early, but their D start wearing down in the second half and UM pulls close. The Griz should be able to run and control the game time of possession and keep the EW offense off the field. That is how you beat EW.

Re: Eagles/griz
Eags roll...
Griz haven't seen an offense like Easterns and won't be able to stop it. The Griz don't have the secondary to compete with Easterns receivers and if EWU is able to run the ball even a little, it will be a very long day for the Griz. The Griz run game was good against EWU last year, but ran a scheme that EWU struggled with (see Sam Houston and Toldeo). They run more of a pro offense this year and won't hurt EWU as much. Easterns D will be very aggressive with JJ (see our last 2 games) and pressure a ton. Our DB's are very talented (Lee and Mcdonald have NFL talent) so EWU will bring a lot of pressure.
For everyone that thinks EWU is pass happy, you do realize we've run the ball more than we have passed it this year 260 to 228...

Re: Eagles/griz
Good points. It is definitely going to be a good battle that is for sure. I need to make sure I record it. I definitely would go ball control/power game if I was UM. I don't think they will keep up with EW in shootout.marceag wrote:Eags roll...

By all means, be overly aggressive in going after Johnson. I'm sure he'd be more than happy to make you pay with his feet.marceag wrote:Eags roll...
