UM vs UO

I have been reading the posts on bobcatnation for a while but I just recently decided to throw my two cents in. I went to the fizzlies game in Oregon on Saturday with my family whom are long time friz supporters. Montana traveled a ton of people to the game and they were there usual obnoxious selves. Before the game started you could tell the friz fans were convinced that they were going to give the ducks a run for it. It was pretty cool to see there tail go quickly between there legs after the opening kickoff was returned against them for a touchdown. The post game show on the local radio in Eugene was humiliating for them. The hosts kept talking about how the Fizzlies were “pissing there pants for the first nine minutes of the game”. Some Montana fans called in and were whining about how the Oregon crowd was so disrespectful of them. They finally all got a taste of there own medicine as far as rudeness and disrespect goes.

I will have to say that there defense did play pretty well but there quarterback (Jason Washington) is the worst. I guess you really cannot judge him by games against FT. Lewis or Oregon but I am saying he is pathetic. He is not going to cut the mustard in the Big Sky Conference. They are going to have to go with their freshman this year eventually.

It is about time that there was more optimism in Bozeman this time of year than Missoula. I will not get my hopes up too high until I see the fizzlies sitting at home with a playoff game going on in Bozeman. I have been disappointed many times in the last twenty years. My only fear will be that we will end up with all there fair weather obnoxious fans who became grizzly fans in the early to mid nineties.

I use to root for the fizzlies in the past if they were not playing the cats but I got a real bad taste in my mouth in Huntington West Virginia in 1996. I was living near the area so I put on my grizzly shirt and went to the game to show my support. The Montana fans were so arrogant and rude that by the end of that game I was glad that Randy Moss made them look like a bunch of grade schoolers playing the high school team and I bought a Marshal sweatshirt and have never rooted for them since.

Classy post. I love how the Griz fans were rooting for MSU against their I-A opponent, and you them arrogant and rude.

I seem to remember UM in the same position a year ago, then the Griz went on to hand the rest of the Big Sky and Montana State their asses into another playoff appearence.

Keep grinning all you want, but the Griz lost to a great team. And did, by the way keep up with the Ducks for 1.5 quarters. Washington and Bergquist will grow too....By the way....There's this little guy called Lex Hillard on offense, and unless the Big Sky is all about stopping the run, the Griz will have another successful season.

Have a nice day.

Montana Rush Yds Avg Lng
L. Hilliard 13 15 1.2 11

Nick, with stats like this, does the league have to worry about Lex? OU showed the league how to stop the friz running game and as everybody knows, the friz do not have a passing game. It looks like it could be a long season in Mizzoula land.

You love how the Griz fans were rooting for MSU against their I-A opponent??? Nick, I was born at night but it wasn’t last night.

As for Lex Hillard! I agree he is probably the best tail back in the conference. Friz fans better hope that shuffle pass left, shuffle pass right, hand off left, hand off right thirty times a game to him is successful.

I was at the last Oregon vs Montana game in 1993. That was prior to most of the grizzly bandwagoners. I think Justin Wilberger? was the Montana starter and was relieved by Dave Dickenson in the third quarter. Montana had a much better showing that year.

Like I said earlier my hopes have been dashed many times before and what do I know.

You have a nice day as well.

It's Burt Wilburger and I wouldn't count out the passing game as well as the rest of the Griz O -- featuring JR Waller who has been taking handoffs as a Griz longer than Hilliard has. Oregon showed how to stop Hilliard, but anyone could with a defensive line like they did. but the rest of I-AA hasn't, atleast the last few seasons. I guess we'll just find out.

I may throw Mike Bass in the mix as far as the best RB in the conference

Only if we see 1 or 2 more fumbles the rest of the season. His hands REALLY scared me Saturday...
