What on earth was Kaufman thinking when he gave up his final year for the NFL?

Did he graduate and just wanted to move on with life?

EDIT - looks like that's exactly what happened. I guess one more year in Cheney just wasn't that appealing to him. :D

I definitely don't blame him... He'll earn a living playing football somewhere, even if it's the CFL. He's just as talented as Elvis, maybe even moreso in the air (adjusting to the ball). Really good ball skills, for sure.

The Raiders waved Padron yesterday:

Southern Methodist fans wish him well:

Nothing yet at the Eagle forum.

As for me, I'm still wondering why he left EWU early.

Honestly, did a guy who had enormous pre-season hype yet basically lost his position at a Big Sky school to a redshirt freshman, honesty think he would make an NFL roster? I'm not even sure he could make a CFL roster.

The only preseason hype was coming from the Ewu asshats.........everyone else knew EXACTLY what Padron was.

Padron probably saw Nate Montana got a tryout, so he figured that made him at least a practice squad member. Seriously, he had decent numbers. A 144 QB rating. I think a lot of his and Adams success had something to do with Kauffman and Herd though.

He lost his position to a freshman, so he clearly wasn't going to start anymore and improve his stock, and he had probably graduated or was close to graduating. I'm assuming he just figured he might as well give it a shot while people would still somewhat remember his name.

Padron graduated. Either he would stay in Cheney for a year as a back-up, or give pro football a shot, and if that doesn't work, begin the rest of his life. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't wait around a year of my as a 5th-year back-up when my academic priority was already fulfilled.

Saw Herd got waived by Dallas and picked up by Seattle.

Yeah, a better QB than anyone the Griz had the last two years?

Unfortunately for him Adams was even better.

He didn't graduate. I think I remember reading an interview where he worked out a deal with his parents that if a pro career didn't work out, he would finish his degree.

You're right. Kaufman graduated; Padron is "close", according to his dad.
