Place your bets -- UM NCAA investigation predictions
What are your guesses? Death penalty? Probation? Nothing? A letter of commendation?
Whoever's the closest gets ... well, bragging rights, and nothing else.

Depends on whether that was with mustard and ketchup or just mustard. I'm thinking 5 schollies for the ketchup.tampa_griz wrote:2 or three schollies lost for eating hot dogs I think.

Loss of practice time at worst.

One year postseason ban
Loss of 3 scholarships each over 3 years
4 year NCAA probation
I have no insight into the NCAA investigation, though, and anybody who claims to is either jeopardizing their job or lying. Pure speculation on my part.

Uh-oh. If they lose 2-3 schols for that imagine what they'll lose for those gaps in reporting and assisting players with their legal services.tampa_griz wrote:2 or three schollies lost for eating hot dogs I think.

I heard a rumor that the NCAA is making them move up and play in the WAC. So basically a lifetime bowl ban and a trip to Moscow every two years. I would call that the "Death Penalty"

You forgot to factor in the penalty the NCAA imposes for the improper ratio of hot dogs in a package versus the number of buns in a package.LTown Cat wrote:Depends on whether that was with mustard and ketchup or just mustard. I predict that um has to vacate 2011 cat/griz game which will give dmac the opportunity to go 4-0 vs the griz.

Re: Place your bets -- UM NCAA investigation predictions
That would be pretty cool. So if that were to happen, would it be appropriate for MSU fans to talk smack about the 2011 game, to offset all of the premature smack that was thrown before the "final" result was known? That would be one of the most profound smack talk dilemmas of all time.wbtfg wrote:I predict that um has to vacate 2011 cat/griz game which will give dmac the opportunity to go 4-0 vs the griz.

Re: Place your bets -- UM NCAA investigation predictions
At a minimum loss of a couple schollies and practice time. Possibly a one year post season ban in addition to that.

All starters have to sit out the 1st quarter of the game vs Panhandle State. Coaches and administators have to run the M.

Re: Place your bets -- UM NCAA investigation predictions
Speaking of "death panalty"........I heard a rumor about some fans of a school that believed it was more prestigious to play and to eventually become an upper-tier FCS team than a mediocre FBS team. And when that same school had an opportunity to play the defending FBS champion they instead chose to play the only FBS team to ever receive the death penalty.......an FBS team that has had three winning seasons and no major bowl appearances since the DP of 1987. The school that opted to ignore the FCS champion like a bad date chose to do for the glory and prestige of playing an FBS team.SACCAT wrote:I heard a rumor that the NCAA is making them move up and play in the WAC. Not ringing a bell...Is that the same team that made the playoffs last year? Maybe they feel that the FBS team is the only Texas team they can beat...tampa_griz wrote:Speaking of "death panalty"........I heard a rumor about some fans of a school that believed it was more prestigious to play and to eventually become an upper-tier FCS team than a mediocre FBS team. No. The team that was chosen as the more prestigious did not make the playoffs.SACCAT wrote:Not ringing a bell...Is that the same team that made the playoffs last year? Re: Place your bets -- UM NCAA investigation predictions
Hmmm? Odd that you mention this because that's part of the story I'm getting from two well-connected Griz fans. I'm gonna go with what PapaG says for now though. He's still batting 1.000 on this stuff after all.Bay Area Cat wrote:That would be pretty cool. MSU - 17 team National Champions (most recent 2025); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

I would say loss of 2-3 scholarships and some practice time.
