grizz Spring Game

Post by ABQCat » Fri Apr 19, 2013 7:53 pm

http://twitter.com/Bwahlberg (Wahlberg sets the standard for tweeting IMO)

1st Team O with Johnson at QB. Converts a 4th down but ends up with a missed FG.
2nd Team O with McKinney throws INT
3rd Team O Gustufson has 1st and goal and ends up with FG.

Resetting with JJ and 1st team 0 now..

And so on... follow Wahlberg if you want more. No more scoring in several more trys. The 3rd team with Gustufuson just got stuff on 4th and short near the goal line. Looks like JJ is firmly entrenched at the #1 QB and there seems to be a battle with McKinney and Smithwick-Hahn for the #2.

I actually think Gustafson might overtake McKinney if he keeps progressing in this system, Trent seems stuck while Brady is really looking good.

Are the Griz going to a more Pro Set system? If not, then I have a hard time believing Brady will be good at running the spread option? I agree he could be a pretty darn good pocket type passer but he isn't going to put fear in anyone running the spread.

Yeah this offense looks a lot more like the one Hauck ran. So the QB is in the shotgun/pistol a bunch but under center some (maybe 80/20 in favor of shotgun or pistol). There's zone-read but it is more of an option and utilizes two running backs and the QB rarely keeps it. Johnson and McKinney keep it a bit more but Brady didn't run it once, he would use the zone-read as a play fake and not much more.

Interesting. That dose make more sense with the QB's they have on their roster after JJ. It is going to be fun watching both teams and their new offense early on.
