Idaho to stay FBS and rejoin Sun Belt

"Spear's ideal situation would be to see Big Sky schools form a new Western FBS conference or join an expanded Sun Belt. With changes to the BCS system and money flooding in for a playoff system, he and UI President Duane Nellis expect FCS schools to eventually join Appalachian State and Georgia Southern in making the move to the FBS."

I'm sure the Sun Belt teams are elated. Sure they have a long trip to Moscow, but no chance of being in cold weather, and given Idaho's record the last few seasons, probably a sure win. How tragic for the Vandals. They're in a conference with a bunch of Southern schools and no home weather advantage.

Idaho is just in the Big Sky temporarily until the Pac-12 comes to their senses and invites them because their academics are so vastly superior to any school in the Big Sky. Oh yes-we will get to hear about that.

As Idaho joins the trash belt, I have a standing bet that the Sun Belt will have a rough time with Benson at the helm and that he will lead the program to D2. App State and Georgia won't be there long - maybe two years before they are moving to a better conference.

And as for Big Sky moving up to BCS - it may happen in a few years, but I hope it doesn't. But what it won't be is as an addition to the trash belt. If they do move up, it will be the top 10 teams from the western FCS conferences. NDSU, UND, Cal Schools and MSU/UM , but not ISU
